Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release) (Spoilers)

That's an understatement! :)

Are those new ATATs on the far right in the background?

I hope not. It looks like they just streamlined it instead of making something that looks like an upgrade.

The more I see, starting with the same old TIEs just repainted, is that JJ went in thinking "They hated the Prequels so we're going to do this exactly like the OT." I'll wait to see it, but it's scaring me that they didn't want to innovate or design anything new because they were so worried about getting the same vibe as the OT.

I really wanted to see some more advanced TIE fighters there. We know of the awesome ROTJ TIE Interceptors, they could have gone from there.

Yeah, while the regular old TIEs are great, the TIE/In look way better. I just hope that maybe JJ is keeping certain designs tightly under wraps so we can all get some big "Aaahhh" and "Oooooh" moments at the cinema after all these spoilers.

I consider the TIE fighter among the most iconic sci-fi ships/starfighters ever. But some new TIE types would be cool to see in the upcoming trilogy, not just white/silver winged ones. There are tons of cool TIE designs in EU, I'm sure JJ could make their own cool ones too. We'll see

I have a feeling, based on nothing, that the Fist Order is not the Empire, nor the heir to it, but the first major player to rise besides the Empire in the wake of the death of Palpatine and Vader. Probably have some sort of "the Empire has faltered and we're here to bring things back on track" aspirations, and what we're seeing isn't so much a continuation of the Imperial war machine of the OT so much as z small group that's making do with what they've been able to acquire through whatever sources -- decades-old TIE fighters, landing craft, and walkers among them. What if those aren't successors to the AT-AT, but some evolutionary step from between ROTS and ESB? And they've just slapped a fresh coat of paint on things because Imperial types care more about appearances than the Rebellion did.

Awesome screenshots JKNO! Thank you!

Now... Is that snoke? Looks to have human ears and hair...

I honestly would rather have him without cgi snake face. He's an interesting enough looking person. And when we saw Andy in lord of the rings sans cgi he made some very evil expressions when he and his friend FIRST found the ring...

I thought about that right after I posted.

He's prob the "Tarkin" and most don't see Snoke like how Palpatine was...

I like the look of the new ATATs... pays homage to many of Joe Johnston's original designs/elements. Man this movie is going to have so much eye candy they're going to need to carry me out with a stretcher and a ticket for the next showing! ;)

and he likes dies in the film, opening it up for a new evil leader in Ep. 8 to work with Snoke and Kylo. I don't think we are really going to see and get to know Snoke until Ep. 8.

Based on what we are learning about the post ROTJ universe from the upcoming Journey to The Force Awakens multi media, the Empire does continue but it is shattered and broken. Assuming the First Order rises from those remnants, it would stand to reason their erupt bent would be similar and due to the 30 years of perpetual war, they likely have had little opportunity for a lot of new R and D. So ships look very similar. I think it's not fan service or a prequel bash, I 100% think we will have a canon in universe explanation as to why the ships are similar to the OT.

they look like proper tanks with legs as opposed to a troop transport.

Huh, so the empire is even more like a sci fi version of Hitler's army (at least stylistically).

As far as the lack of evolution in designs, when you think about it. Have military jets really changed that much since 1985? Sure, they changed a lot since the 60'2 and 70's but not so much between the late eighties and now

I do like that the officers have flared pants, like in the Original Trilogy ... but not in Star Wars Rebels.

Are those space submarines ......... not that they are, but they sure do look like submarines ;)
I would guess that those are drop-ships, like what the Stormtroopers in the teaser trailer were standing in.

F-4 Phantom: first flight in 1958, introduced in the US Navy in 1960. The German Air Force retired their last ones in 2013.
There were however many updates and upgrades in those 55 years.

See the Pilots and Officers in formation, wonder if the other Men In Black are the Gunners and Drivers?
Really looking forward to see how those troopers look.

Think the subs are troop transports and being reused for Rogue One after repaint.
Saw some pics around.

Hux dies in the first act? One major death on one side and one for the other side.
I hope the Colt 45 pimp gets an appearance in these new films.

No Hux dies towards the end of the film according to the story synopsis rumor.

Just saw on Making that Abrams said no behind the scenes or new trailer at the upcoming Disney event. Just a new trailer later fall.
