Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release) (Spoilers)

I never expected a trailer to be shown at SDCC, so I don't care whose fake description is more accurate. I more meant the tenor of the thread. People hate the guy and would love to see him fall, and with good reason. He's poisonous to the community and obnoxious to boot. I apologize if it doesn't meet your approval, but I probably will continue to casually keep reminding people not to support his site when I'm reminded of it myself. Let's revisit the last "fake trailer description" debacle, and how Jason saved us from that misinformation:

Oh, thank you, thank you, Jason. Thank god you figured out that fake trailer description which you yourself leaked to your competitors was fake by running it by your "sources." What would we have done without you? Could you tuck me in and tell me again how you were never wrong about anything? Not even a months-long tirade against anyone who told you Luke would not be Kylo Ren?

The less of him and his site I come across on here, the better. Jason makes money off of MSW advertising. Doesn't hurt to remind people what they're supporting.

Well, a lot of people in that thread seemed to be supporting him as well. I think he's a total tool but really all these sites competing for Spoilers are colossal d@#ks with the exception of Star Wars Underworld, they are nice kids. But the rest, forget it. I'm just interested in hearing spoilers about the film and as many of his detractors said in that reddit, he's gotten a TON right and that's the name of this spoiler game. Look, knock yourself out, I just think it's all silly.

Of course he's got a lot of support, too. As long as people get what they want! There are plenty of customers for the recasters of the world, too. Different segment of the fan community, similar ethical shortcomings. When you screw over your competition and increase the amount of junk news (like soft late-gen castings) out there, you make the fan experience worse for everyone.

What do you have against Indie Revolver? Only facts, zero speculation presented as news, no releases without real confirmation - didn't even run Jason's fake plants.

Hopefully some people here care about journalistic and fan ethics to not give Jason the privilege of their attention and ad revenue.

The really damning bit of that long thread, if you care to see it:

Isn't amazing, how his site is consistently more accurate than his competitions'? Then again, it really isn't - it's probably got a higher percentage of misses than the other sites. He just runs a lot more content. A lot of it is conjecture, and he's still getting some things wrong.

I can't see that attachment and I don't have anything against Indie Revolver, I just think they are all engaging in click bait. And that's fine, but let's be beat, these are not journalists. And do you really think Fox News, CNBC, CNN are ethical?! Come on. My job isn't to police the integrity of fan sites on the internet. That's all these places are. And the MSW podcast is pretty fun, I like Randy, and Sal, and Johnna, Sath, they are very nice people. Jason is hard to listen to because he's sounds like he is spitting all over the place, he has some kind of odd speech impediment or something. But the rest of the crew is great.

And so he jerked around people in March, it's July, let's move on.

He's still jerking people around.

And for the record, IR is not a clickbait site and works hard to be a positive contributor to the conversation. It's not even monetized. No ads, no revenues. Just a labor of love.

Sounds like you might be a biased observer. :)

And respect for IR has nothing to do with my disdain for MSW. The two had/have an amicable relationship as far as I know, and seem to have several of the same sources.

Well, Jason was 95% sure a trailer would debut at SDCC and implied he had info on it but wasn't going to share because it always seems to bite him in the butt. That didn't happen so he was totally wrong.

Yes - he loves to exaggerate. He'd guessed it would happen, due to the LFL presence, and it seemed like a safe bet which would make him appear connected. Of course for the first time ever he was hesitant to share something... Because the trailer info never existed.

See, here is where I think your off base. I listened to his podcast and he really doesn't exaggerate. They do e-mail questions and he readily acknowledges when he doesn't know something. He totally owned up to being wrong on Twitter. What you describe isn't what I hear or read on their page, to be honest. He's rarely oversells it, at least based on my experience listening.

And Star Wars Underworld do a great job and have nailed a lot themselves.

Admitting he doesn't know some things doesn't mean he doesn't claim to know things that he doesn't. Conversely, saying that he had info about the SDCC trailer but was suddenly timid about sharing shows that he's happy to pretend to know more than he does. Saying that his "sources" told him those trailer descriptions - planted by him - were inaccurate shows that he's plenty willing to flat out lie.

His conjecture is informed - but he still reports guesses as news.

1.. Hello, everyone! And welcome back to another edition of Making Star Wars is a hack site full of conjecture masquerading as news! That said, I did also see the art that he describes as Snoke, but originally in a batch with mostly background alien designs. Never would have guessed it was a more important character. He does have a snake head though... And his name is "Snoke." Which would be like my mother naming me "Humon" on a snake planet. Kind of hoping he's got the art mislabeled....

Then link spoiler news from other sites! I've been doing all the heavy lifting in this thread for months and months. What have you contributed besides recent pissing and moaning about MSW?! Did another site report about Leia as a general or a new female character? If so send them to me and I'll edit the post and use them as a source instead! Sheesh, good thing I don't have high expectations from you ingrates. ;)
