What I want to know is at the end of the movie why did Finn and rey climb to the top of the building? after 5 views I still don't get it . they climb up to the top see han talk to kylo and then when all hell breaks loose have to climb down which apparently took long enough for kylo to get ahead of them . they did nothing while up there, didnt plant a bomb or anything up there. it was like that was just where there tickets were to watch the show or something.

Well, I always equated the Empire to being space Nazis consisting of stuffy, white men. I associated the Alliance being the picture of diversity. So I too initially thought it was odd to have a black guy and a woman playing stormtroopers but it just isn't that big a deal. John Boyega killed it and is a credit to the series.

The Story group has said that their vision for this trilogy is that Luke was the first Jedi accept that his dark side was a part of him, rather than separate. They feel that this is why he became quickly so strong with the Force, whereas they feel that the other Jedi ultimately lost their connection to the Force because they practiced denial of their "dark feelings" instead of training to work through them and instead choose not to give in. They have stated that this is why they feel Luke was an "entirely new entity", and that this thinking gives rise to the only real balance that there could be in the Force: you learn to control your Dark Side rather than deny it even exists.
Well yeah, I agree. And you get that racist committment to the pure race, etc etc. We are the chosen. etc etc I mean they didn't even have non-humanoids if I recall. The Empire was indeed space Nazis.
So yes, the new diverse empire does seem less scary. Equal opportunity tyranny. LOL
And guess what? they had a defector. So diversity has it's downsides when your trying to run a tyrannical entity.
and perhaps conversely, the rebellion couldnt keep things buttoned down, because well.... where the hell is it now? fighting the empire again.

How do you *know* this? For example, how do we know that Chewie's reaction to seeing Han killed in front of him (one of his "big moments') is out of character for him? We have never seen him in that situation before.
And as far as something "light"-- for example his macking on the nurse--just because we see him do things we haven't seen him do before, it doesn't automatically follow that those things are "out of character" for him.
