Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Post-release)

I didn't have a problem with Chewie disagreeing with Han BEFORE the bad guys show up, about being able to talk himself out of jams. My problem is after the bad guys arrive, when Chewie sides with what the bad guy is saying over what is saying. The OT Chewie would never betray Han like that.

The Wook

I dunno Wook were you the same as you are now 30 years ago? Surely there's room for personality growth/ movement in a character. Imagine working with Han Solo for 40 years or whatever you'd probably get a little umm flippant even in a tight spot.

I just think they were going for a lighter touch with a lot of the film. More of the Han chasing/ then being chased by stormtroopers in the death star feel and less of the Hi I'm Anakin the child killer feel :)

Fine, have Chewie be more flippant with Han. But not in the presence of mortal danger, and not by siding with the enemy over Han. If you guys can't see that, I can't help you.

Well, yeah, because he was the one with the fur coat, but I get you.

Excactly. You'd think he'd be the last to complain but he's like your pet dog who looks at you sad no matter how good he has it.

I also enjoyed when Chewie handed Han his coat.

That was gold. It was like Chewie was looking out for Han because he's getting old and Han looks at him like "I'm still badass Han,I don't need that."

If that's what JJ was going for, it didn't come off well. If Han had started to bend for the coat and Chewie swooped in to grab it first to spare Han from bending over, then I could see Han giving Chewie that look when it was being handed to him. But for Han to make no effort to pick up his coat, it makes no sense that he'd give an annoyed look at Chewie for picking it up for him.

Just more of the careless writing and directing which plagued virtually all of this film.

I didn't mean he was too old to pick it up. More that Chewie was giving it to him because it was cold and it's a continuation of the "Chewies cold remark". As if Chewie is saying "here old man,it's cold out there"

Well that's even worse writing. It didn't work. I've seen the film twice, and each time it fell flat. The movie tried too hard to be funny, and most of the time it just didn't work. As I commented earlier, I absolutely loved Rey's "That was lucky!" line. Finn was mildly amusing, I guess, but he was borderline over-the-top. The hand-holding lines on Jakku were great. And, there was one thing Chewie did that I loved, and that was when he heard the Dejarik game start up and he sat up, suddenly not feeling so injured anymore. lol That was very reminiscent--and I mean that in a good way--of him perking up when Lando asked if anyone was hungry--a small but great ESB moment.

Ugh. It's so depressing thinking about how few things I liked in this movie.

I will say with almost 100% certainty Snoke is not Plagueis. Pablo Hidalgo of the story group has been mocking that rumor pretty actively on Twitter.

and Cumberbatch was not Khan in ST2

and Daniel Creig would never play the bit part of a stormtrooper in TFA .

and Channing Tatum is not in the hateful 8

I keep hearing directors and writers mock rumors till we see them come true.

as a matter of fact hearing that he mocked it makes me say with almost 100% certainty he is !
if he was asked and said " I don't know your gonna have to wait and find out " I would agree with you he probably is not but every time they knee jerk a NO of course not that is stupid type of answer means you hit the nail on the head and they don't like it . almost 100% of the time . like the reactions of every one I mentioned above hell DC got all huffy in an interview "why would I be in star wars " was his answer. so they had the story about it being the German voice of 007 for the movie dubs . QT same thing like working with Channing was beneath him when asked about his rumored appearance on set.

by the way Hateful 8 is my pick for #2 movie of 2015 behind Fury Road. think I put TFA at 5 behind Ex machina and Ant man yeah that's right I said Ant man.

looks like star wars success is at least slowing the drop in Disney's stock price only a 5.5% drop in the last few weeks .

Maybe it will grow on you. I didn't like Terminator Genisys when it came out but I bought the bluray and since watching it a few times and listening to their reasons behind things it sort has grown on me and I kinda like it. :)

You probably should be posting in the disappointed in TFA thread below this one where that group would probably relate more.

I didn't see any humor trying too hard to be funny. I don't buy humor too easily in films because I can tell pretty well when the material isn't doing the work and overdone by the actors. In this movie I thought everything was well done and had no problem with any of the funny bits. They were all genuinely great parts.

BUT, that was just my view on it and no one's opinion is more right or wrong than another. I enjoyed what I got out of it and went into it with a clean slate hoping it would be decent and was very very happy.

Over all I liked it. The wife stayed awake and was smiling the whole time....and she hates Sci-Fi. JJ and Disney know how to make a good movie to appeal to the masses.

I really liked Kylo Rens voice, super Villain! I wish he kept his helmet on the whole movie only taking it off when face to face with Han. The BB-8 sounds were fantastic as well and portrait-ed a lovable puppy very effective.

I kinda cringed at how much abuse the Falcon took on its initial flight and subsequent bang ups. The use of CGI was good enough not to be a distraction.

I hope Captain Phasma makes a comeback. She had way too small of a role for her sexy chrome character.

Fin. He was a garbage man? How did he get so good at tossing a saber around? Perhaps there is something of a back story.

Fin and Rey.....I dont need another pre planned romance between the two. Kinda got put off by his 'fresh out of the First Order on leave' pick up lines.

The new Cantina. Great job. They had a wide variety of aliens that showed creativity and imagination. Same goes for Jukko(?). A couple of times I found myself thinking....
Hey that thing is cool!" The dewback-looking with a robot head is one thing that popped out.

Finn was a stormtrooper, trained in combat, including presumably hand to hand and melee weapons. Apparently his non-combat duties included sanitation, as some soldiers' duties will.
