Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Post-release)

I'm so glad Kylo was not a one and done villain. So much character development to be done with both Kylo and Rey, and can't wait to see what Luke has to offer. Is he good, bad, grey Jedi? Not bad, but not quite good and maybe that is where Ben went sideways? Played with the line too much?

Man, the lightsaber fights were just spot on for me. None of this crazy jumping, choreographed fighting. Just brutal, emotional, battle! Love it!

Ford looked so happy in this movie. You could tell he genuinely enjoyed making it from what I could see. He always thought Han should die after ESB so he got what he wanted. And they did it in an amazing way.

Re: Star Wars TFA. Warning spoilers and I hate it!!! Haters and Lovers Welcome

Kasdan made an astute comment about how ANH is confusing as well too. Obi Wan talks about "the clone wars" as if the audience knew what the hell he was talking about, no other exposition.

Apparently you're one of those people who needs to be spoon-fed.
I am not. I feed myself.
Ben's offhand mention of "the clone wars" sent my imagination into OVERDRIVE.
As well as the imaginations of my friends.
Which is why the prequels were such a disappointment to us:
We had already imagined, argued, re-imagined, and refined what we imagined "the clone wars" to be.
For YEARS. That was my childhood, man.

I feel really sorry for you. I can't imagine life without imagination.
I don't mean to come across as a pompous jerk. I honestly really do feel sorry for you.

Re: Star Wars TFA. Warning spoilers and I hate it!!! Haters and Lovers Welcome

A little exposition could have gone a loooooooooong way in the prequels. We definitely didn't have to see the interactions of space-CSPAN first-hand. Someone could have easily said, "The senate said ______, and the Chancellor said _____." instead of having to sit through a 5 minute scene of aliens in congress discussing politics. JUST BECAUSE ALIENS ARE INVOLVED DOES NOT MAKE A SENATE HEARING INTERESTING!!!

Ok, settle down, Josh...

Umm...what?

I'm sorry, I think you must have missed the first part of my post. Or, most relevantly, "I want to know more."

....I guess I just don't understand why you're directing your energy at me, because I'm not making whatever point you think I'm making. I haven't a damned clue how me saying that I'm drawn into the film and want to know more, becomes "spoon feed me information" to you.....Or that I don't have an imagination?

My point was in response generally to people saying that there are "plot holes." Some of those things are not fair (or not yet fair) to call plot holes, because there's more story to follow.

P.s., for the record, I thought the clone wars were like people's evil clones gone wrong when I was a kid.

Re: Star Wars TFA - How much they got paid **SPOILERS**

I imagine Han's death was part of his deal for the film, so he can finally be done with it.

Re: Star Wars TFA - How much they got paid **SPOILERS**

Why would how much an actor got paid be considered a spoiler?

Okay - cool.
I apologize.
Sorry.
(I'm drinking...)
I misread.

I read your Kazdan quote and assumed you were left hopelessly confused by Ben's mention of the clone wars.
Much relieved to know you're on our side.

P.S.: For the record, I thought the clones (used for slave labor) revolted for basic human rights, and the Jedi were on their side - fighting for rights for clones.

Re: Star Wars TFA - How much they got paid **SPOILERS**

Cause they won't have a chance to cash in on future movies. Plus it can tell how much screen time they may have.

Re: Star Wars TFA. Warning spoilers and I hate it!!! Haters and Lovers Welcome

Just forced (huh-huh) myself to sit through TFA. Shallow, empty, pandering, and almost parodic of what came before it; I felt like I was being talked down to the whole time. "Huh?Huh? Rebmember this? And this?!"

Another shining example of mediocrity being touted as a return to form by being wholly unimaginative and slavishly banking on the "nostalgia" of the films before branded into adults who, in turn, will take their children to try and get branded, too. If successful, the cycle will then repeat itself.

...So, typical Disney fair.

As a stinger: Fury Road did this better. Bringing back a movie franchise with another installment that was new, imaginative, and competently put together while still maintaining the DNA that came before it.

New Mad Max is my New Trilogy.

Re: Star Wars TFA - How much they got paid **SPOILERS**

Go ahead why not?

The Mods don't have a problem with it so why should you?

Another Thread on TFA. Maybe I should make one of my own since it seems like it's the wild west with no marshalls.

I think that is exactly what he did with the Money from Indy bought some vintage aircraft or made a down payment on it.

Wish I got paid that amount of dough!

No matter what you say about 65 million or 35 million.... neither number is NOTHING. I could almost buy my own ship for that.

Saw it, loved it-I think if you liked the marvel comics in the years after ROTJ and wished they would make more Star Wars and be a little like the comics then this will tickle you.

I'm gonna go see it again on Christmas it's that good :)

Re: Star Wars TFA. Warning spoilers and I hate it!!! Haters and Lovers Welcome

How many 9yo kids loved Fury Road this summer?

Fury Road was awesome but it's not even the same sport trying to compare it to the situation that TFA was in. The Mad Max franchise's appeal is so much narrower, the pile of original characters & elements people want to revisit is so much smaller, and there weren't 3 recent bad movies to apologize for.

TFA was coping with so many different (and often flat-out contradictory) demands that it's not even funny. The fact that it didn't disappoint the majority of the viewers is mildly amazing.

I don't know if this has been mentioned as I did not read through all 27 pages of posts....BUT

When R2D2 comes back to life so to speak and starts talking to C3PO, 3PO turns back and says
" Find master Luke Hamill ??????"

Anyone notice...
