Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Post-release)

I don't like the fact that anyone in her family would think it's ok to be left on Jakku with Unkarr Platt, blobfish
Yeah that could also portray Luke in a bad light, no matter what genuine reasons he had for abandoning her there. But it's also possible that he wasn't even aware of her existence as a child and it's the mother or someone related to her who took that decision of leaving her on Jakku.

Now I am more inclined towards the idea of Rey's parents being someone else all together, away from Skywalker.

Saw it today for the second time, this time with my boy, he got quite emotional when Han died, and I think it affected me more this time too, its a weird thing to watch a son kill a father when you are sat there with your son.

For some reason I also got a bit emotional at the Luke reveal, that one is harder for me to understand.

In my head I imagined Rey's parents detonating their ship in front of the knights of Ren, their last act to convince them Rey was still on board, they knew they would be hunted forever if they escaped, but if they believe Rey to be dead...

Wow, that sacrifice could bring so much depth towards her character history after realizing that and then having to face Kylo Ren and others.

Or maybe mom brought her there after dad got killed by Kylo at the new Jedi center then she (mom) went kamakazi on a new order ship-there could be a damn good reason Rey was left on Jakku.

After watching it with my two teenage boys (with whom I have a very close, positive, warm relationship), I joked that if either of them ever went off the deep end and decided to go on a kill crazy rampage, I'd appreciate if they let me off the hook, for old times' sake.

Heh. "Joked."

J

I think if they did that with ROTJ and that was it, people would be very disappointed and wanting more. I don't know when he decided that ROTJ was going to be 'it', but if it was in the same timeframe, seems more like ending on a good note is the reason.

I would like for Luke to remain a Jedi who has no children, he has already blemished his reputation with the death of the other Jedi. I would prefer it doesn't further ruin his reputation by having a child that he abandons so readily. Again, if some normal parents are thrown into the mix, then the abandonment might be more justifiable.

Hell, I'm having a hard time accepting the fact Luke left.

Wow. Im still not in any camp as to her lineage but this is a great pic.

I'd have to think he believes there's something in the temple that can restore Ben or something to that effect. He went off to look for it and somehow got stranded maybe. Just leaving because he feels bad?, no, won't ever buy that.

I'm really hoping that Kylo Ren doesn't redeem himself by turning against his master the way his grandpa did. It would just be too redundant - unless they can twist it enough so it doesn't come across as a direct ripoff. But I can't think of an easy way.
I'd rather have him remain a tragic figure.
But a lot can happen in the next couple of films...

Han says,.....'yeah, I knew Luke' then they are interrupted by the guys boarding the cruiser

They exit the falcon & Han studies monitors showing the boarding Vessel

They have their time in the corridors of Han's Cruiser,.....They escape the monsters & jump to lightspeed,...Rey disables some circuitry & Han is impressed.....Finn patches up Chewie then sits at the chess table.....Han says to BB8 "Let's see what you got"

Thanks. :) I'm to above admitting when I got it wrong. So, we do have some hyperjump exposition.

Noticed a female trooper besides Phasma, judging by the voice: the one that reports to Ren about an alarm Rey had set off.

Yup. If I remember right, she's a member of the Southern California Garrison. For a little bit, I thought she might be the TK-338 referred to in dialogue, but that person's apparently been retired for a while, so no -- just coincidence with that one.

The same with me as most views have been just me and my son. It's a very powerful scene. The bit most powerful for me is Han reaching up and touching Bens face before he falls. So sad. And yes I well up for when luke pulls his robe back.:)

One of the theories I've read is that Kylo Ren only surrendered to the Dark Side so that he could get close enough to Snoke to assassinate him. That doesn't necessarily jive with his adoration of Vader, but it might explain why he's struggling a bit with his Force abilities, and it gives new meaning to his dialogue, "I feel it again...the call from light. Supreme Leader senses it. Show me again the power of the darkness, and I'll let nothing stand in our way. Show me, grandfather, and I will finish what you started." Vader removed his master from power; maybe Kylo Ren is following his example and planning to do the same.
