speaking of fett trooper connection, has george or anyone connected to the film ever explained why they went that way? did someone just think it was a cool idea, or was it always 'the fans will go nuts when they see fett this connected to things.' not that you could believe much of what george says these days..he's so ocd ever changing that it's sad.

I still think Japanese is a better comparison than European. The latter had a lot more regional and cultural variation driving armor aesthetics than the former. And I can look at a couple hundred years' worth of Japanese samurai armor from most parts of the main island -- especially during the high medieval period of the Shogunate and civil wars, and I easily recognize them all as Japanese and nothing else, even with the individual variation between them. To borrow your phrasing -- a piece or two that's different.
I'd suggest this thread on the Mandalorian Mercs board for a general cross-section of completed kits. Yes, some are straight Boba or Jango repaints. Many aren't. One of my friends has probably the most extreme deviation I've run across:
All hand-crafted himself from steel. He's a frikkin' tank. But before you go dismissing them as repaints, bear in mind that this:
...is a cultural hallmark of the armor, as much as the T-visor. To veer too far from this design is to stray from its "Mando-ness", if you will. People also tend to be reluctant to deviate from the outline of the Boba/Jango armor, as it's most recognizable. As the EU and canon have given us further variations, like Sabine's, we've adopted and run with them, too.
It's an interesting question: How far can you deviate from an iconic look before it is no longer recognizable as that icon?
10 from I to II. Boba wasn't age-accelerated like the other clones, so a normal gestation would have meant he's about 9 in AOTC. 2.5 years to Episode III, 19 to IV, 3 to V. A little math and we get that when he says "Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold", he's about 33-34.
But yes, George wreaked merry havok on his old timeline when he made the Prequels.
Well, when Jango died, Boba was 9 and nowhere near his adult height. Ruining his dad's armor resizing it to fit him (if even possible or practical) would be especially pointless since he would just outgrow it in a year. And even if he's kept it until he grew up, well...
Tem Morrison is 5'7". Jeremy Bulloch was 6'1" when he filmed ESB and ROTJ. Boba obviously had a better diet and medical care during his formative years than his dad.
Aside from the fact that resizing armor bigger is well-nigh impossible, all the specific details are different. Jango's collar and backplate have a gap between them. Boba's overlap and lock together with nuts. Jango has more abbreviated groin amor -- extending laterally only to the midline of his thighs. Boba's wraps all the way around to his sides to overlap and lock together with an armor band that wraps the rest of the way around his hips. And so on.
So while he theoretically might have worn Jango's armor sometime in his teens when it fit, he had to have definitely moved on to his own set by the time he was full-grown.
Ironically, Jango's armor was going to be painted like Boba's, but George wandered in during a test-fitting on Tem Morrison after they'd cold-cast and cleaned up the armor pieces, he saw the shiny bare-metal look, and said "oh, that's nice -- let's go with that instead".
Mace Windu, but otherwise correct. Time index 4:53, and again at 15:21...

He makes a really weird face I think u captured it on the top row middle. When I saw it in theaters I actually thought it was a editing error... When it came out on dvd I paid close attention to realize he makes many more weird faces.. I never understood it. To me it looks like he's getting off, finally fighting mace or something idk. Always feel uncomfortable at that part of the movie, it's just weird to me
I don't think anyone would dismiss a Mandalorian warrior if they were known to be able to go toe-to-toe with a Jedi Knight. Now I could see someone using the mystique of wearing that armor to intimidate or stop violence before it started. That would make sense.
Well it depends on what if anything survives from the old EU. That's where most of the Mandalorian stuff comes from. In the past there, Mandalore was just one army, it wasn't a group of nations like Earth. It was united to conquer as a massive army. We don't really know anything now since in TCW they made Mandalore a pacifist planet. So maybe the Death Watch are the only ones with armor, though they imply in the past they had wars.

Why did they make Palpatine's neck so fat in ROTS and when then inserted him into ESB?
one change that i cant stand is ian in ESB... the ESB emperor was so creepy. it use to scare the hell out of me... that along with the doc in roger rabbit at the end of the movie... goosebumps thinking about it

I know he was supposed to be sounding all evil there, but it sounded more like he had a frog in his throat. nowhere near as good as his later speech to darth.

IIRC, even Ian McDiarmid took issue with that. Apparently his neck is prosthetic, making it look fat, where it was not in the OT.

Um, why would a helmet have a blast shield that prevents you from seeing anything? Wouldn't it be see thru to allow you to see and still protect your eyes?
and wonder why Chewie took his ammo belt off when he sat down in the falcon cockpit when they took off from mos eisley but never again?

I've always assumed it needed to be replaced for some reason, and they just used a lower leg from another Protocol Droid. Parts is parts, and it's pretty clear from their appearance when we're introduced to 3PO and R2 at the beginning of Episode IV that they weren't meticulously maintained.
If your ship was blowing up, do you really want to see it happening? :lol

since i've only seen it through two times, i'm rewatching clone wars again. on a REAL TV this time, not a pc screen.
up to cat and mouse.....If Seige of Lothal had a musical tribute to back to the future two....it's ABUNDANTLY clear that cat and mouse has a musical tribute to star trek two and the nebula space battle. I wonder how they get away with it without copyrights coming in. I can't be the only one who noticed.
