Why didn't the Imperial navy continue to fight above Endor after the Death Star II was destroyed? Even if they had set up a fall back point for the fleet to jump to, they could have easily re-organized and jumped their MASSIVE fleet back to the Forrest Moon and wiped out several resistance leaders on the capital ships/the surface.

Of course, I guess the Empire wouldn't assume they'd fail to protect the Death Star II, so perhaps there wasn't a back up plan for the fleet. That would lead them to disarray jumping away from the battle; however you'd think they'd be able to still engage the small amount of Rebel ships left...

I've always assumed it needed to be replaced for some reason, and they just used a lower leg from another Protocol Droid. Parts is parts, and it's pretty clear from their appearance when we're introduced to 3PO and R2 at the beginning of Episode IV that they weren't meticulously maintained.

but why go with the color they chose? maybe they couldn't get the silver sufficiently dirty looking and had to go with another color that looked better all banged up?
I can't remember, but did he have a silver leg in episode 2 as well?

Also curious what the hell they saw in hayden christensen. He had this weird, awkward acting style...like he couldn't even get the words out without stumbling over them. when he's supposed to be acting all angry, he comes off as just kind of..miffed.

I have one question regarding modelling.

The star destroyer model for ANH has a large section missing on the starboard side for the mounting pipe to sit. Yet when we see the ship in the film, everything seems to be in tact.

Were there several mounting positions so they can always hide it away from the camera?

Here's the thing. I think most of the PT actors are talented and able to play a range of different roles. The problem, I think, came down more to things like awful dialogue and weak direction. You end up with a lot of very...unnatural, stilted performances. Some of the actors are able to make the roles more their own, but when actors like Natalie Portman and Samuel L. Jackson are left feeling...stiff, wooden, unnatural, I think it's far less about the actors themselves and more about the writing and direction.

And you can't put it all down to green screen, since 300 was filmed with almost no real sets, and the acting in that was decent.

Somewhere along the way George just forgot how to direct people.

I kind of like Portmans reaction as anakin is telling her about slaughtering the sand people.. she just kind of stands there with a vacant stare and almost has a smile on her face.


also, here is a question...we see yoda meditating during that scene. you clearly hear qui gon s aying 'anakin, no!' and then you hear a very pained NOOOOO after that. it doesn't sound like qui gon though. was it someone else?

I think we're gonna find out in the new films-my guess is with Vader and Palpy gone there was a huge power vacuum maybe no one had a real idea what to do and maybe a few greedy types made a move for the crown.

The thing is the Empire survived and carried on which I like and it seems the "Rebels" are still not in control and maybe got a bad surprise in the weeks/months after Endor.

This is kinda what bugs me about this whole thing. The current 6 films are about the rise and fall of the empire. They are also about the fall and redemption of anakin Skywalker.

There was a beginning and an end.

It took me a while to accept that I want more story of these characters. Which I now do.

But extend the story of the empire kind of undermines larger arc of the previous 6 films. I hope that in this new series, it isn't merely a rebranding of the empire. I want a new threat. Something thought out and not just a rehash

I really liked how Stargate turned after they won the battle against the goa'uld. The lucient alliance came in and appropriated all the tech. But they clashed with each other and it was always a power struggle.

That makes more sense to me than the empire surviving the battle of endor

Lol! Yeah that whole duel just went beyond ridiculous. I guess it was a fittingly disappointing capstone to a disappointing trilogy. Yikes.

As far as I'm concerned, Ian McDiarmid was just about the only one that offered a passable performance in the PT and even he got a little wonky in parts, especially in ROTS.

I really liked how Stargate turned after they won the battle against the goa'uld. The lucient alliance came in and appropriated all the tech. But they clashed with each other and it was always a power struggle.

That makes more sense to me than the empire surviving the battle of endor

The Empire probably had 100s of Star Destroyers so why would it not make sense that some parts of it survived? The Rebels just cut the head off. That wasn't the entire Imperial fleet at Endor.

I understand that when we talk about some regimes, if you cut off the head, another one grows in it's place.

But the sith are not middle eastern dictators.

Palpatine is the creator of this regime. He crafted the entire political climate all by himself and he dismantled any form of government save himself.

In addition to that, it's implied that the death star is unparalleled in both symbol as well as resource consumption. If something like that DOES topple, the economy will follow. (Let's watch volkswagen over the next year)
I don't doubt that they have a 100 star destroyers out there, but the chances of them staying as a unified force are highly doubtful
