I don't see that as an issue one way or the other. You can buy the rights if you want, or work out a deal where everyone wins and you split the income. I mean, clearly LucasFilm found it financially worthwhile to release various editions over time, even though 20th C. Fox was doing the distribution. No reason Disney couldn't do it, too.
