Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

I don't know about that. Kevin Kiner did some music for The Clone Wars that was not in the Williams style. But he still would pull fragments of the Williams themes when it was called for. Not much, but little bits. This is one of my favorite examples.
That's the kind of thing I was talking about. There isn't enough direct lifting to "count". It's a sound-alike. (But I agree it's a nice piece.)

I have an easier time accepting changes that Lucas made to canon in the PT than anything Disney has done. Disney doesn't seem to have anything but profit and putting it's own fingerprints on everything in mind. I don't see them as having the right to mess with canon, history or spirit that Lucas created and was long standing before they bought Lucasfilm. Canon changes that were made in the OT/PT seem more like plot twists than retcons. I'm sure some disagree and thats fine.

*Edited as it was necessary.
The thing is GL also understood motifs and mythology which is why it was successful globally.Disney is trying push an agenda along with ticket sales,GL was making history while Disney is trying to rewrite it.

NeoRutty you have some valid points, alas the part where you say “pretend with everything in this” is where I am lost. Might as well silence Intelligence and truth so stupid people are not offended.Don’t forget to drink responsibly and take a Uber if need be.

If the cargo ship is slow and on a predetermined route, why couldn't the inquisitors get ahead and be waiting at the destination? Why did Vader give up the chase due to a few flames? How did Obi-wan manage to slow-draw his pistol while those 2 stormtroopers were already pointing their guns at him? These Disney shows have such bad direction and execution. Even the sets and costumes are lacking somewhat. What happened to creative talent these days? The golden age of TV is truly over. Moon Knight had the same issues. 10 years ago I'd have joked that these shows belong on the 'Disney Channel'. I suppose they literally are, though.

I'm not even mad at Reva's actress, cus there is bad direction, bad costume, bad character design, bad writing at play. It is probably that which makes people dislike her, but they just assume she is a bad actress. The other inquisitor with a dish hat and a frisbee on is back is even worse, but he is a background character so it isn't as noticeable. I've never seen her in anything else, so I give her the benefit of the doubt each time. The grand inquisitor looked like a fan in generic dark side cosplay. Imagine that guy stood next to Vader... A total derivative.

This may be nit-pickey and i'm sure someone may have commented on it, but i don't know why that whole Lazer gate scene bugged the heck out of me so much and still does...At first i'm like, what are doing Obi...stop wasting your time and just go around it, but then i'm like, oh, he's going to drive the truck through...nope, blows up the gate switch with his blaster then walks through...? Really? How in the world does someone miss that? Don't tell me budget, or whatever excuse there is. It guess i feel the way i do is it just comes across as cheap...and when that happens, especially when they are fooling around with OT characters, Legacy characters or whatever, it makes me think they DO NOT CARE. That bothers me more than anything because without all of us who DO CARE, they do not get paid.

I agree with CopperRevan, the toll gate bit seemed odd; it didnt venture out into going back to find a $***load of credits, but I was hoping it would at one point because it seemed so out of place...maybe just my view

After dropping Star Wars like a bad habit after TLJ I've not bothered with any of the TV stuff. I had no interest at all.

But Kenobi was always going to get my attention.

I kept away from all the build up as I didnt want to have expectations in either direction and only saw the teaser shortly before release.

I've watched the 1st two episodes and I thoroughly enjoyed them. My only complaint being young Leia getting chased through the woods, that really could have been better.

The opening montage of prequel footage was really well edited, got the appetite for it flowing again.

Seeing a lot of grief for Moses Ingram which I don't really understand (I mean, I do, but not getting into it here!). She is by no means on a level of Rose and the character seems to be acting in accoradance with someone in that position, tainted by the dark side and seeking to gain further favour and power.

Looking forward to the rest of it.

its a good series, will continue to watch it. and as far as the cast, Moses Ingram has every right to do her job without racist, hateful, personal attacks, which i dont understand either - but have seen it all too often in the real world.

and yes - the way the montage footage was handled put aside any opinions i may have had about the prequels :)

You guys aren't aware that Williams wrote at least a couple of new themes specifically for this series? There's a new theme for Obi-Wan and another for the Inquisitors, at least. Might be more but I know of those two. According to what I heard, Williams actually appeared at Celebration this past weekend and conducted an orchestra playing said themes.

Pretty safe to say he's getting paid. I'd love to imagine that I could still be getting paid good money when I'm 90 years-old.

It’s a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation, but it seems like every time they shoot on location in the American Southwest the episodes suffer for it. They land on this planet and it’s just, Joshua Tree National Park. Same issue with “The Tragedy” shooting in Simi Valley under the noon sun. Those types of locations are fan film 101 (as evidenced by the Ahsoka fan film that people recently thought was a production leak).

I’ll watch next week but my enthusiasm has waned after the third episode.

yep i was outside I think taking a legion photo and missed Williams (and the free tickets to the screener) - he was there though, have to watch it on YouTube

And yes -- they've used "Respeecher" in this series to synthesize a voice. The credit doesn't say it was for Vader, and IRC Jones is listed in the cast as well, but from what I've heard he gets the credit because it is his voice they are building upon -- specifically, his ANH recordings are the primary source.

I just don't see her doing anything wrong here to even justify a special mention.

Totally agree on the montage, had me hooked immediately.

His voice sounded fantastic. Much better than JEJ as DV in more recent outings. So either they have a fantastic sound engineer to eliminate the weaker/somewhat-breathless tone he has as he ages, or that Respeecher software is something else indeed.

Should also add, the younglings escape had me too.

Aside from the way he says “Obi-Waaaaan” when he’s holding him against the flames, I agree. He really sounded like Vader, even if I think the costume looks a little too clean.

I was at celebration but missed that particular panel. Williams played the Obi-Wan theme, Raider's March (Harrison came on stage) & Imperial March.
