Star Wars Archives: 1977-1983

Mine shipped this morning, early Xmas gift for myself!

It does seem expensive but I bet there are gonna be a bunch of new pictures worth it.

Even if I don’t see anything new with the v2, there’s so many other props. And if not then maybe I can help others on here with what Props their interested in

Post pics of all Vaderprops in the book...and Royal Guard...:)

The Taschen store in Beverly Hills got them last week. I looked through it. Overall, for the price, for the title, I am disappointed.

I guess it is to be expected. We have two Chronicles books now. We have a 300-page Rinzler book on EACH film. We have the Sculpting a Galaxy book. This book combines elements of all of those, but does not surpass any of them. Sorry. The appeal of the Kubrick Archives book or the Bond archives book was partially the fact that the those subjects hadn’t been covered in-depth up till that point. But let’s face it, we have been blessed with a trove of info. ANYTHING coming down the pike now has a lot of competition.

It is NOT a Chronicles-style book. It is NOT as in-depth as the Rinzler books. Are there pictures? Yes. Lots of them. Are there new ones? Yes, probably (I’m not an expert about everyone’s niche prop/costume interest). A lot of the VFX material I saw I had seen before. And the new content didn’t warrant a full-retail purchase. (The Cantwell artwork included in the book is, I believe, a first. Interesting, but not worth the full price alone.)

Get it at a discount if you can. Buy it to add to your book collection. Just don’t think you are going to get EVERYTHING you are hoping for.

Amazon have just confirmed mines on the road and will be with me today.
Cant Wait. I wont get in until 10 tonight and then I am supposed to be mending the dishwasher. Thats all gone out the window.
Looks like the kids will be on washing up duties.

Well I’ve been confused as all hell.. I got a text from DHL, saying I have a package from Germany on the way.. I couldn’t for the life of me figure it out..

Then late last night it clicked, sure enough it’s the book. Mine comes tomorrow, fingers crossed though. It needs a signature and I’m always working... here’s hoping a friendly note on the door will suffice

Amazon just dropped it to $136! I have he Rinzler books, sculpting a galaxy and chronicles too, but I’ll grab it for that price!

Here are some quick highlights for saber folk. These were just quick pics. I’m sure nicer scans will be done by someone else, but my scanner is broken.

My favorite is the V2.

After looking at the other pics, I believe this is the v3 with its long lost nip!
