Star Wars Andor (Disney+ TV series)

In all seriousness the trailer looked good and I hate most SW after OT.

I thought it looked good, Star Wars, but different.

Three problems:

Spoiler alert. The main character is already dead and we know how. Takes some tension out.

Why did Boba Fett get 6 crappy episodes.

Obi gets 6 or 8. Can't remember, but
a series no one asked for gets 12 plus another 12 next season.

Where the Fudge is my beloved U wing??????????????

No K2SO in the first season. The best character in Rogue one and one of the best post OT.

Why does my beloved Star Wars hate me so????????????????

Okay more than three problems.

I just erased the 3 paragraphs I wrote, because it probably would be accused of being a 'gatekeeper' of the forum.

I see where it's all headed & I hate it, but I'm not going to be able to have a conversation or express my thoughts without being placed on a 'side'.

Just rock on with what you like or don't.
That is what I've been saying the whole time...And I still think you're a real fan

I call them like I see them. And what I see is that my question was ignored yet again.
Sorry, but that is not fact... I answered your question. You just didn't like the answer. So let me answer you again, even though it will make no difference to you. I don't have disdain for it I just am not interested because the protagonist doesn't interest me. Period. I'm still a fan and so are you. Let's move on.

No answer I give will satisfy you. Why would I engage with that? And you're rude about it too so there's that.
....says someone without answers.

disdain

noun

dis·dain | \ dis-ˈdān \

Definition of disdain

: a feeling of contempt for someone or something regarded as unworthy or inferior : SCORN

Sounds like distain to me.

You are basing that off a previous movie, not this series. For all you know, the series may spark a new interest in the character or maybe there is a character in the series that you will like. That's exactly what I have been talking about here and why you answer to my question is not really an answer, it just proves what I have been saying.

I cop to your superiority and your all knowing wisdom. Oh great one, I can only hope to be worthy of your level of Fandom. I humble myself in your presence. Forgive me for my transgressions oh mighty one.

Even when you try to agree to disagree, it's still not good enough. Let's just move on for the sake of others on the thread that have opinions as well. There are more FANS out there that have the right to express their opinions as well.

I don't know what this discussion is even about, and I don't want to speak out against an rpf member, especially toward a member who is making stuff for me, but I sense a slight, ever so slight hint of sarcasm in this response. I apologize if I am not interpreting this right.

I usually want more groveling, but I guess this is ok.. So we are good.

Okay, again I don't even know what this is about and my friend Psab keels above response was just too darn funny, but I want to give you props MJF. This response was perfect!!!!!!!!!!!

Call it good fight everyone and lets get back to bitching abo,,.....sorry, discussing Star Wars.

Okay just watched the trailer again for only the second time, and it does not look bad. It might help that we have no expectations, unlike Obi-Wan, BOBF, etc. so we shall see.

Just so no one gets their hopes up, he is dead.

"Fan" is shortened from "fanatic", just to remind. Fanatics tend to lose perspective or discernment.

I am not down on "post-Disney Star Wars". Marvel Studios is also owned by Disney and I think they're doing great (also, acknowledged, not an opinion shared by everyone). It's not about the megacorp that now owns the production company. It is all down, for me, to sheer quality of story and character, consistency of message, oversight of ancillary creators... When Lucasfilm makes a big thing about all the tie-in material being on the same level as the films going forward... and then start contradicting that tie-in material. that kinda undermines that consistency-and-oversight message. So we have to come down entirely on quality of story and character, and if the new iteration is weaker than the first pass it's replacing, that has an impact.

At this point, it is an unknown -- we have just been told that we need to not expect things to match what came before. Which is not a comforting thing to hear. So, ah... the natives are restless. We've seen Kyle Katarn and Lumiya and Garm bel Iblis and Talon Karrde and Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin Solo and Borssk Fey'lia and Kir Kanos and Daala and Mara Jade -- who we'd spent years getting used to and knowing as part of the setting -- wiped out at a stroke. It is unsettling to see Lucasfilm basically treating the Star Wars canon like an Etch-A-Sketch.

So you are not watching Obi Wan Kenobi? You know he dies later in another movie too, right? So okay, we know Andor will not die but there will probably be other characters who could like that you will be concerned with and even mission and goal objectives that you will wonder if they will fail or succeed. I don't think knowing the fate of one character strips the drama.

Ok, there is another on of my points as you seems like you might be having a issue more with the other series than this one. You can check but I think what most interviews say is that the simply base the episodes on the story runners objective to tell the story they want to tell.

Additionally, did you actually poll the fan base and find out that "no one" asked for it? I may not have asked for Andor but I did ask for a series that further explored the rebellion prior the events of R1 and A New Hope. More so than what Rebels did.

Also, I think if we were to take your question, we might also say in the same way... Who asked for Star Wars? Just because people do not ask for something, does not mean it does not have value.

Where the Fudge is my beloved U wing??????????????

Once again this sound like a judgement because people don't get what they want rather than what the series has to offer. This was a teaser trailer. So we do not know what craft will show up or when, Are you going to really throw a strike against a whole series if a U-Wing does not appear in this series?

See above comment.

Kind of seems like it is the other way around. But that's just my opinion

I think you bring up some good points.

To start off, I will admit that I think Rogue One is exceptionally flawed. I think there are too many characters as well as no real main character. The first half (first two-thirds, really) is slow. And they didn’t need to kill off all the characters. That being said, I think visually and aurally it’s a perfect film. Production design, score, sound design, cinematography are all exactly what I’d want from a modern Star Wars film. Moreover, out of all the characters in the movie, Cassian is the one with the most potential to tell an interesting story and I’m supremely glad they’re making this show. I also really like Diego Luna. Again, while I don’t think it was necessary to kill every character, I also don’t mind watching a show about a character whose fate we already know. I liked Solo, a lot, and we all knew he’d end up falling off a space bridge with a lightsaber in his gut.

As for the shades of grey/grittiness debate, I think it’s fine for people not to want to watch this over that but I still think there’s room for both the idealistic, pure good-and-evil of the OT and for some shades-of-grey type stuff around the edges. Especially if the Rebellion is still in its infancy and there are multiple factions, like Rogue One showed with Saw Guerrera’s extremists.

Anyway, I really hope the fighting calms down in this thread. I think a lot of things are being thrown around because it can be hard to interpret intent with just the written word, and it’s a subject we’re all very passionate about. If anything else, please, remember this—

IT’S DISDAIN, YOU FOOLS. STOP THROWING A “T” IN THERE.

;)

With the exception of Kyle, the rest came from the books, no? Before the books were released - any of them - LFL put out a statement saying they were allowing the books but if more SW came after the books, they were not beholden to them. So, everyone was told that in advance, but when they actually do it, they're in the wrong??

They also may the prequels which was the story of a guy we knew was good, went bad, and dies in ROTJ.....wait, maybe that's a bad example... :)
