Star Wars Ahsoka (tv series)

I never read the Thrawn trilogy. Just what exactly is so great about this guy that they want to find him? What is he going to do?

The danger of Thrawn is multiple: First, he is beyond brilliant. Think Sherlock Holmes running the Imperial fleet. In the novels he was always multiple steps ahead of the Republic and setting traps for them. Just pure genius.

Secondly, Thrawn is a true believer in creating order, and is highly ambitious. He worked his way to the top quickly and efficiently, and is one of the few capable of actually uniting all the Imperial remnants.

Finally, he's the last remaining Imperial Grand Admiral. Not sure if that counts for something, but I believe the rest had all been eliminated.

In a time where many of the Rebels' victories were due to Imperial stupidity ("Evacuate? In our moment of triumph?"), there is no way to prepare for someone like Thrawn coming on the scene.

Thrawn was a military & tactical genius. The best the Empire ever had, but because of the Emperor's xenophobia, he maybe never got as far as he should've, although Grand Admiral was pretty good.

He was never shown as being evil, unlike a lot of imperials. He's just extremely good at his job. He also placed a great value on life, & never wanted to destroy indiscriminately. Probably his greatest trait was that whereas the other leaders looked at various cultures as lesser than, Thrawn studied them, mainly the culture's art, to gauge their strengths & weaknesses.

Lastly, Thrawn was never sold out on the Imperial agenda, but was instead more interested in cultivating a relationship that he could use to help his people, the Chiss, out in the Unknown Regions.

I really wish the New Republic was simply taken by surprise. This can happen to the best of us, minus the big dumb planet turned into a Death Star that sucks suns and can't move. A huge fleet could be built way out beyond any New Republic knowledge or influence.

The more I think about it the more I think Ashoka is really not terrible, but making the New Republic morons from the start is just continuing Disney's goal of destroying all our heroes.

To be fair, Palpatine built an entire fleet and staffed if with and Imperial army and no one knew anything about it.

Not even the First Order.

Minor criticism.

He should have had Ashoka like she appears at the end of Rebels after the time jump to post ROTJ. Still could have her be a badass lightsaber wielding former Jedi but something happened to change her to "White". That would have avoided a obvious retcon and not taken away anything from the series character. Especially since that was a clear defining moment. Now that the end of Ep 2 brought us up to that point it should have been exactly the same.

The Ghost better be in this thing. I got my Has Lab Ghost so I better see it.

Speaking of end of Rebels, I like it. Very well done, BUT!!!!!, the Ghost was not at the Battle of Endor. We saw everything. There was no Ghost. That's B.S. It's great they have put it in other stuff, Rogue One, etc., but it was never at the battle of Endor. Say it was at the battle of Jakku or something, but not Endor.

Positive:

They listened to complaints and gave Ashoka the longer tails and bigger top like she had in Rebels as opposed to the shorter ones she had in Clone Wars and Mando.

Nice details like same rank as Generals had in O.T.

I'm sorry, I do not know what you are referring do. He died in ROTJ and there is nothing of him after that.

You must have had a bad dream.

If something like that had happened that would prove my point. Have something like that catch the New Republic off guard as oppsed to them just being dumb.

Next your gonna say he hid the huge fleet of spaceships under ice for no reason.

Silly member.o_O

I saw someone post this on FB, and it is a good point…

In Mando, Ahsoka won’t train Grogu who would probably be very strong in the force. In Ahsoka, Ahsoka wants to train Sabine who is not strong with the force generally.

That seems completely backwards.

Ahsoka didn't want to train Grogu because of his attachment to Mando. She says that she's seen what that can do to a fully trained Jedi, meaning Anakin, of course.

With Sabine NOT being that strong in the Force, there's much less of a chance she could be tempted. There's no power there to desire more of.

Well, Rebels (and Ahsoka) have already changed the Thrawn story as laid out in the Zahn books. Been a long time since I read the books, but IIRC

-The CHARACTER of Thrawn is the same in both. He is a brilliant strategist who studies alien cultural history to gain in-depth insights, almost a sixth sense, to better his tactics. He was always 3 steps ahead of his enemy.
-In the books, Thrawn (and others) used Ysalamiri, lizard like tree dwellers that could in essence "block" one's manipulation of the Force. Thrawn wore one like a mink stole, to protect him from Jedi power.
-In the books, there was an alien race (Noghri) that essentially worshipped Vader as a Messiah. One in particular was Thrawn's personal guard /assassin (later introduced in Rebels). Leia eventually met the Noghri and they learned she was Vader's daughter, so they revered her as well. Eventually, Thrawn's personal Noghri, Rukh killed Thrawn, and he never saw it coming as her was unaware of Leia's influence over the Noghri.
-The Zahn books ALSO had: A jedi master clone, a Luke Skywalker Clone (made from his severed right hand), and Mara Jade.

"Zahn invents a species that can block the force and he makes it a major plot point. Nobody panics, because it's part of the EU plan. But then George mentions a microorganism that indirectly indicates force powers in the prequels, and everybody loses their minds!"

If they had actually said it was indirect and not let everyone assume it was the direct cause of Force powers there would have been way less freaking out.

The original Ep#1 explanation seemed clear enough on that point to me.

IMO midichlorians ruin the magic of the force in the same way that Egon Spengler's PKE meters & proton packs ruin the supernatural-ness of ghosts. I see no difference in principle.

Without the midi-chlorians, life could not exist and we would have no knowledge of the Force. They continually speak to us, telling us the will of the Force.

This certainly seems pretty cut and dry, no midiclorians=no one knows the Force even exists
