Star Trek Voyager - Gel Pack

Test fill with water, I think it looks okay, bit of creasing on one side from how I taped the bag on to the aluminium ends.

Here the bag filled to make sure that's it not leaking, if I use silicone probably the best way to let it cure,

Unfortunately after leaving the bag filled over the weekend I returned to find it mostly empty and the newpaper soaking wet, a very small leak it took me a while to find it, not down one of the seams where I expected it to be, but on the bottom round the aluminium end piece. This definitely favour the silicon, to provide a stable 'gel' in the bag. I was pretty careful with the bag to try and prevent this but clearly easy to do.

This is what I found when I came in on Monday. when I first looked is assumed it had drained down to the level of the hole but after refilling to see what as happening it was still emptying at the very bottom.

Curiously on the second fill this time suspended with the bottom not touching the floor, it didn't leak. Don't know why or how but having left it for a week no leaking. Did have some issues with corrosion and marking of the metal parts suspect its due to the brass and aluminium being together in the water. Definitely don't think water based 'gel' is a good idea. To that end, have order some translucent silicon and blue pigment so I will start experimenting.
