Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

There have been SEVERAL posts explaining exactly why they do not enjoy it. The point that you choose to ignore them to enforce your own agenda does not make your comment a fact.
We go into great detail. Here's what's wrong, here's why it's wrong, here's all of the reasons we don't like it, etc. The other side, they have nothing worthwhile to say. They just whine because everyone doesn't agree with them. They can't show where we're wrong, they can offer no evidence that they're right... it's like they never learned how to properly debate a point in school.

That's hardly a surprise considering how crap modern education is.

This is my favorite thread, and I'm not even watching this show.

…can the Drekkies even tell me which episode the gif above is from? I doubt it. STAR TREK has always inspired a passionate obsession about even the smallest details. Now, things have become unacceptably sloppy, and I take great pleasure in pointing out just how deeply stupid and insulting it’s all become. If these franchises have to die, then we’re gonna give ‘em a very memorable send-off. Oh, yes, indeed. Next, we take the Alices on a trip through Wonderland.

As I’ve said before, TOS is my single favorite show of all time. Abrams fired the first shot with his stupid movies, and now Kurtzman is trying to completely overwrite TOS, while ostensibly hiding behind “canon”.

Not on my watch. As I’ve said before, that amounts to a declaration of war, in my book.

And moreover, we patiently explain the elements and techniques of good storytelling, which have been refined over thousands of years of storytelling, and which were written down as early as Aristotle’s Poetics. And then point to how NuTrek utterly fails to meet even the most basic standards of competent writing. If you’re a really, really good writer—a Stirling Siliphant, or a Francis Ford Coppola—you can break the rules, for good reasons and to accomplish a particular artistic purpose. But unless your name is Hemingway or Shakespeare, you’re better off coloring inside the lines.

I can! I can! But I won’t. But I will drop a hint.

Why, thank you, Captain McCoy. :p

If they want war, we'll give 'em war.

Personally I've never used the ignore button
It's the online equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and saying "La la la, I can't hear you". Not a good look.
Agreed, but some people just want to live in an echo chamber.

That’s cool. I mean I was literally saying something I liked about it. But do go on.
Yes, but you made the mistake of having an opinion they disagreed with, and thus are an uneducated rube in their eyes.

I would really love to push the ignore button on some of the people in this thread but I find that I enjoy what they have to say in other threads so instead I just try to ignore the whole thread but as I'm a glutton for punishment I can't seem to stay away.
Sort of like watching current Star Trek…

I just rewatched the episode in question, and I have to admit there’s some dialogue in there I’d totally forgotten about—probably just getting older. It happens during an incredibly tense moment, and reflects the strong dramatic themes throughout. Anyway, it goes like this:

KIRK: When do you expect penetration?

SPOCK: About two hours after cocktails, Captain.

:p

...are you sure that isn't from the SNW second season premier, "A C**k Time"?

I know, but it gets to the point where you just need quiet. Like when your 7 year old asks you the same question 1298 times in a row. Eventually you tell him to go clean his room, just so you can get some peace.

That sounds like a poor parenting problem, not the kids problem.
