Star Trek Props on Pawn Stars

Virtually everything on Pawn Stars was a fake /set up. While it is possible the item was real, the back story likely was not. We rented things to a number of this type of show. I know of a couple of things on Pawn Stars that where borrowed from small museums as props.

Actually thinking it was a Coyle and a BN are both true, kinda. Coyles first phaser was a rework of a Jim Kirk knockoff of BN's
phaser. The aluminum body was modified with fillers and new back fins added along with the detail on the handle.
I actually own the original master.

Brad would be thrilled, although iirc not at the time.

That thing looks horrible!! :D

hmm I have several of Coyle’s props (Like 10 of em) none of even looked like that. He was a fan of that Red button For a while but I picked up my first phaser from him more than 25 years ago as he is local and it looks nothing like that. Here is what a RAC Prop phaser looks like circa 28 years ago.

Rich’s Phasers have improved over the years as more and more info became available.

I remember being told what the Phasers WERE in the mid 70’s, instead of what I remembered them from watching the Show by George Takei, ie the trigger being on the bottom of the P-1 and the handle/power pack twisting off on the P-2 , and swore George was tripping!!

I hope Rich is well and doing all right in this Pandemic

For anyone who doesn't know, it's not just Pawn Stars. Storage Wars, American Pickers, American Chopper/Hot Rod, Overhaulin', any of the shows in which they build a vehicle in a week, etc.--if it's on television, to some degree it's fake.

In some cases, the items brought in for appraisal/sale on Pawn Stars were items that (allegedly) items that were already in their inventory.

I have the same phaser. I bought it at the World Sci Fy convention in Baltimore Md. in 1983.
I do not remember the seller but I still enjoy the prop.
