Star Trek Into Darkness (Pre-release)

Do you guys remember the black tar pit that killed Tasha Yar and was supposed to be the concentrated hatred and prejudice of an entire alien race?

Well I think it's been posting here under a pseudonym.

I'm glad I decided to pop in to the entertainment board today. It has been.... entertaining.

What chance have you got to like a movie going into it with that kind of attitude though? I mean, I never spend the money looking to be pissed about it.

I'll find out. Maybe my negative speculations will be fully justified, or maybe the film will give me something that earns my respect where I won't continue trashing it like I do with Trek09.

I don't know how the film will turn out, and neither does anybody here. I wish I could leave it at that and continue to talk about the film in question, but some folks here wish to continue to make this a non-friendly environment for others.

So... is the general consensus now that Cumberbatch is playing some random from TOS with no real history? Or do we still think there's more to it than that?

It's highly unlikely that he's playing this Harrison from the TOS. Although a small part of me is still hoping he plays a de-aged Robert April. Just the thought of Cumberbatch playing the first Captain of the USS Enterprise is a cool one.

And of course, if he is still playing Khan, there's potential that he'll be even more dangerous in this new take than the last one, and it wouldn't even involve technobabble.
