I have no problem with the crew wearing field jackets seeing as they have worn them in The Cage, The Motion Picture, Wrath of Khan, and Search for Spock. However none of those looked like they were designed to appeal to the superhero loving demographic like these do. I sense more style over substance in the near future. So sad that they seem to want to make Star Trek into such a generic blockbuster entity when we have too many of those as it is.

I think the first two movies provide ample evidence. The uniforms just add to my feelings that this current iteration of Trek is nothing more than serviceable, somewhat fun, forgettable entertainment.

I'm wondering what species Sophia Boutella's character is supposed to be. She kind of looks like an Andorian Aenar without the antennae, but she must be some new species, which kind of bugs me. I really wish they would tie in to the many species already associated with the Star Trek world to keep some continuity in these movies.

Ugh, if I didn't recognise the actors (who I still think are bad choices) I would have no idea this was supposed to be Trek. After giving in and watching the first one (got a headache) I skipped The Hissy-fit of White-Khan. You couldn't pay me enough to watch this. I never thought that the day would come (especially after those prequels) when I was more excited about a new Star Wars film than a Trek one.
