Star Trek Beyond

Ok, I found another not blocked one. It may look like fun but it sure does not look like Star Trek. Just using the characters doesn't make it Star Trek.

STAR TREK BEYOND Teaser Boldly Goes Back To Fun | Birth.Movies.Death.
In the above article Devin makes some good statements as to why this movie will be better this time.

devincf: How are people complaining about Sabotage in the new TREK trailer? Did you guys watch the 2009 TREK?

devincf: Many of my favorite original TREK episodes are FUN. They’re adventures. They’re different genre stories w/ TREK characters.

devincf: STAR TREK BEYOND fits right into this. No, it isn’t an episode. It’s a huge movie. It needs to be bigger, but it has those characters.

I indeed forget about the Beastie Boys track being present in the Star Trek movie, probably why Kirk is reminiscing about it now in this movie. But for the trailer itself I still wish they went with orchestral music. Despite how the movie is being marketed as a full on action movie, I feel the actual movie will indeed appeal to classic Star Trek TOS fans.

Wow that looks great--you know, if it didn't have Star Trek in the title :/ A bit too "yeeeee haw!" for my tastes. But I liked Trek 09, hated ID on first viewing, so I'm 50/50 with these flicks. I'll see it. If I have any Star Wars money left over.

Looks OK to me. Seeing the Enterprise heavily trashed again is a little disappointing, as is Kirks use of the motorbike and the Beastie Boys song . Perhaps they are going to "upgrade" the Enterprise to a more original design from JJs version. It DOES kind of remind me of the original TV series though, in that some of the sets look definitely as Earth bound as the aliens ie a little bit of Trek retro cheese. I loved the first reboot, thought the second one was very entertaining apart from the over the top "Khannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn" Spock scream. Lets wait and see.

Paramount wanted their own Guardians of the Galaxy, now they've got it. No more Enterprise, no more crew, just a band of wise cracking, space fairing humans who like to play old Earth music. Also a female warrior alien who looks to be about just boring as Gamora was in the actual Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

Also, looks like we're going back to save the Earth again. This makes it four movies in a row now?

As with most trailers, it is cut so quickly so as to not actually be able to see any of it and geared to adolescents with the attention span of a two-year-old, but given that, I don't want to rush to judgement on this. I already KNOW it can never be a good Star Trek episode; the movies have never been well suited for expressing the true heart of what makes Trek work, so it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges.

But I still love the casting for these movies, and I want to believe it is making some new fans, so I'm all for that. In spite of hyper-cutting, I think this could be excellent. I already love the scene with Bones and the transported Spock....classic Trek humor.!

I'm going to stay positive until proven otherwise. My fingers are crossed tightly!

Wow. I think this is the biggest FU to Star Trek fans from Paramount. What a disappointment. Bring Trek back to TV.

Here it is on YouTube, but man, what a turd it looks like...

Star Trek.... At its core is an exploration of the human condition thru the eyes of fictional aliens. It's cerebral. It takes contemporary situations and transposes them on a fictional setting and makes you question the norm.

This is NOT that
