Interest Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector **UPDATE 3-3-15 FINISH PROCESS page 7**

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector **UPDATE 11-11: Shipping begins!

Payment sent MDuckett; looking at the pics do you have a hose casted for the chin area. Was watching the movie and have seen it in still shots from the movie. Wasn't sure if I missed it in some other thread.

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector **UPDATE 11-28 RUN #2 INTEREST**

Quick update before I head out to dinner tonight, but interest for the second run is up. I'll be back with more info later tonight. PM me if you want to be a part of it.

And thank you so much everyone who was a part of the first run! You made this a really great experience for my first project run.

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector **UPDATE 11-28 RUN #2 INTEREST**

Projector update!

The map projectors ship as three parts. The body piece and two optional replacement faces. One projector face breaks into three pieces and the middle can be omitted for a projection port. The other can be cut to the desired layout. Otherwise, you can just cut the existing face, which contains a hole for the pour sprue, to your desired shape. You can of course use your own material for the face if you have something else in mind.

We’ve had houseguests for almost three weeks straight, so progress has slowed down, and I apologize about that. But I’ll be getting these projectors out now so watch for a PM soon if you expressed interest earlier or PM me for info.

And of course the new helmet run is starting up, so if you’d like to get on it let me know! There are limited spaces available, so get in while you can!

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector **UPDATE 12-3 RUN #2 TAKING DEPOSITS**

Well ****, I guess I must have an abnormally large head, I trimmed down the helmet I got and cleaning it up alittle and its at east an inch to small to fit my 'huge' head

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector **UPDATE 12-3 RUN #2 TAKING DEPOSITS**

You have to cut the back apart to be able to put it on. It's a lot of work, but totally worth it since that's the only way to scale this helmet so it doesn't make your head look enormous.

Oh thank god.... I thought my head was just monsterous

so, once cut how do you attach it so it doesn't fall off once youre wearing it?

Where did you make the cuts?
Mike

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector **UPDATE 12-3 RUN #2 TAKING DEPOSITS**

Gonna have to retract my interest, thought I could spare some funds but Christmas is bleeding me dry. Hopefully in the near future if they're still available

Same place as on the original, on the seamline that runs down behind the temples, then back over the ears and curves down behind them. When the recessed area curves back at the bottom, you just keep going down. Then slap a bunch of rare earth magnets in there and you've got yourself a helmet.

Hey MDuckett... Any chance you could please post just a close up of the side where the back part of the helmet attaches to the front half. It would be a big help just so I get mine axactly right. No rush though just if you had a spare minute sometime :D Thanks

Hopefully Matt won't mind me posting this. This is how I did mine, same as the screen used.

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector **UPDATE 12-3 RUN #2 TAKING DEPOSITS**

I assume the lighter stuff on the inside edge is how you've attached magnets - what did you use for it? I just got my helmet a couple of days ago, and definitely want a magnetic closure.

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector **UPDATE 12-3 RUN #2 TAKING DEPOSITS**

It's a slow cure epoxy. It's reinforcing all of the magnets that are individually glued on with 5 minute epoxy. I've since added it to the front as well. This way if one magnet wants to pop off, they all have to.

Thanks! I've never worked with a kit before (only foam) so I have no idea what products to use. I'm slowly compiling a list! ;)

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector **UPDATE 12-3 RUN #2 TAKING DEPOSITS**

My helmet sold so I'm definitely interested!
