WOOHOO!!:

The colors in these pics might not be exact, but overall I'm pretty happy. A couple very small details still to be changed, too. They used blue thread on the front for some reason, and they used the same D rings as last time, but they have the new more accurate ones in shop now.

Other than, as you mentioned, the colors being a bit wonky, it's looking great! As for those colors, it's just looks like the biggest thing is that everything is too vibrant.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

The stacked plates look just a tad-bit too orange, maybe. Although it could just be the difference between real-life and whatever color-grading they did on the film. I'm really only used to seeing this thing in the film or film-caps. Either way, I'd carry that bag.

How's the inside look? Did you switch from solid purple to purple-hued-brown?

I suspect that when I receive them, the colors really will be quite bright, maybe too much. Confirming the correct colors is hard without seeing them in person. I like to think that this is what Quill's bag looked like when new. I'm planning to weather mine a bit, including trying some things to mute/reduce the color.

Everything in the movie was definitely graded, probably a bit blue. So we'll see. I agree the panels look very bright.

The inside is a little browner, in theory. I'll post some pics later, but I don't know how accurate they are; none of the photos yet (including ones I took) quite showed the true color of the first prototype.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

Zlurpo, is there still an opportunity to tone down the colors from this prototype for the production run?

I can ask, but I think at this point they've purchased the fabric, so changing would mean additional cost. However I do know that with the first sample piece, the photos they sent were exaggerated a fair amount on the brightness and vibrancy. For example, here's a side-by-side of a photo they sent, and a photo I took, which is more accurate to real life (mine is on the right):

Definitely a visible difference there! Please let us know what you see (and the outcome of anything you do in an attempt to lighten/desaturate the materials) when you've got it in hand!

At this point, I don't think I have the bag in hand before they are all made and shipped; they are starting production. I can ask for more photos and to verify the colors are accurate, but they aren't planning to ship this new sample and wait for reviews, they've already bought all the fabric. But I'll keep people updated on my weathering techniques.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

Interrogative: Is there any chance of correcting size and shapes of the stacked pannels on the finished product? I've already mentioned before, they don't fix each others by rivets. It seems this prototype still needs some corractions.

You mean how they seem to just overlap, help down by the edge of the panel above? ... Maybe. They might not like me changing things like that at this point, but I'll see.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

This is now a sales thread. Please go read the updated first post for details about payment, shipping, and strap sizing.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

If a small strap bag is available I'll take it.
At this point to get on the sales list, just send payment for the bag + shipping to your location, and include the info in the first post. You'll get added to the sales list and you'll be sure to get the size you want!

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

Almost out of the small and medium strap sizes, but I will try to come up with a good way to adjust your strap size to fit you. I think I have a solution, so even if you get a large it will be a simple thing to shorten the strap down!

About half gone now! Saturday bump.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

Just heard from the manufacturer. They had some sort of problem with getting some of the leather, and they now say I should receive the bags on the 20th of November. Much slower than anticipated, but I guess the issue they had caused a bit of a back log or something? I dunno. Sorry it'll be so slow :(

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

Any updates?

They're working on it, and the whole company changed from one factory to another. They now think they will finish production somewhere between Friday and Monday, and will ship with DHL after that.

They say that it's taking longer to "assure high quality" but I suspect it's also a bit of them being stubborn and a bit uncaring. (I'm kinda mad at them at the moment over timing issues).

I'll ask for some pictures of them as they are so far so people can at least see how things are going.
