Limited Run STAR-LORD BAG, professionally made. Now shipping!

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

Zlurpo

How about this.

If you'd be willing to give me a good idea of the distance across the top of the bag from d-ring to d-ring where the main strap attaches, and then the "accurate" strap length. I can try and mock it up with whatever I got lying around and see how it fits or at least see where the d-rings will end up sitting.

This measurement (assuming approximately the size of the correct D rings):
bag legnth.jpg
is about 23.5-24". The smaller side strap is about 9.5", the buckle adds 2 inches, and the longer side of the strap is set to be about 29.5", so everything between the d rings is around 41 inches long.

Okay, let me get this straight.

The line you drew on that pic is 23.5-24 inches.

The short strap is 9.5 inches.

The buckle is 2 inches.

And the long strap, that's 75cm?

If that's correct I'll try and mock it up tonight and get a pic up.

Yep! Exactly that.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

Looking really good so far and I definitely would be interested in one when the final product rolls around.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

This is looking really great so far. I'm curious, though... earlier in the thread (August 29) you said the time frame you were looking at was about a month, give or take shipping. How's that still look?

I should have been more specific: a month once I have all the details confirmed. And at this point since I think ravonos's strap idea should work, we're about there. There's still a good chance these can be out by Halloween... If there's a few people willing to pay before they see the complete bag. In fact, anyone who is willing, I'd give them a $25 discount. Full price is still looking good at $275+ shipping.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

@Zlurpo and everyone else.

Okay, I got a crude template mocked up. I just used a strip of eva foam and some paracord :lol but it should serve. Turns out my current bag is within an inch or two with the straps maxed out.

I'm a hair over 5' 4", and my upper body is right on the edge of medium/large where clothes size is concerned.

So here's the bag I currently use.

My bag and template. Measurements are the eva strip and the paracord.

And the template.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

I'll make it official: Final price for the bag is $283 + shipping. Anyone willing to make a payment now instead of waiting to see the final product in order to speed up the process, you can have the bag for $25 off, so $258 + shipping. PM me and I will send you payment details.

I'll take payment through paypal or venmo. PM for details.

If I can get 5 people willing to pay up front, I can get a real run started and be able to have at least the bags of the early pay-ers shipped out in time to get to you for Halloween. Of course at that point there would also be photos of the complete bag for everyone.

@MrSouthpaw

Looks like my 41" strap isn't too long then?

It's like, right on the cusp Still feels a bit long maybe. The thing is definitely sized for a 6 footer. My stockiness alleviates some of that, but people who aren't the bag will hang further down.

No matter what, I'm interested. Even if that means a too-long strap. But I would very much like it to fit well.

How difficult is it to remove the strap and attach another one? Perhaps you can get the bags out now, normal strap and all, (maybe it turns out to fit fine) and then see if the company would just do some short straps for a reasonable addition fee? Something like that?

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

As a general FYI, your price has to include fees, it's against the RPF guidelines to have the buyer cover fees

Uh... Hm. So it's generally just not allowed to charge different amounts for different payment types? I wasn't aware of that rule. Can I have a discount for using a non-paypal source?

You would have to either cut them off, or somehow pry open the rivets holding them on. But I think it will work out to have a shorter strap version. I still haven't verified about the price being the same, but there's a chance it will.

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

For PayPal, for example, you'd just state in the thread you are charging $283 for the bag rather than say $275 then have the buyer add on $8 after the fact. I suppose you could offer discounts for different payment types...? I'd have to reread the rules.

I just read them. Ok, I'll go back and edit above, so now this whole conversation is gonna look confusing to anyone coming in now :D

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

Anyone else want to get in on the early discount?

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)

I'm going to hit you up this weekend about it. (At work now...)

Re: Star-Lord Bag, professionally made (pic heavy!)
