Dark Matter Props (Mike Spurgeon) is selling a variety of Ra headpieces on Ebay, Etsy, and other platforms. There's a Dark Matter Props "Bam Box" version as well that looks reasonably good from the photos I've seen.
It's great for making a cookie mold. (i.e. Clean)Dark Matter Props (Mike Spurgeon) is selling a variety of Ra headpieces on Ebay, Etsy, and other platforms.
What is your opinion of the Dark Matter headpiece?
I compared the photos of his Imam (the side with more text) with the photos you posted of the Indy Magnoli, Relic Maker, Sarednab, and Michael Key versions and the Dark Matter version doesn't exactly match any of them.
Thanks for much for posting all those great photos! It really helps.
Its not the light shining through, its a reflection. Its all one piece.Does anyone make one where the hoops are raised or where the hooped arms are separate pieces? Every medallion I’ve seen it’s molded into the piece. I want one that can cast the light thru the hoop like this screen grab. View attachment 1716274
I don’t know, man. I was starring at it all day yesterday on my pc. It looks like light shining through and the hoop is slightly raised. Its not the light shining through, its a reflection. Its all one piece.
The little bit that appears to shine through might be a reflection off the strong spotlight on it in the movie, but I was utterly unable to recreate the effect with either the RelicMaker or Sarednab medallions here with an extremly bright controllable beam flashlight. I shined the flashlight with controllable amounts of beaming on it at both of them from different angles and I was easily able to recreate the shadow part, but not the bit where the light looks like it's shining through so I can't say with absolute certainty the movie one isn't raised up at the end for some reason (possibly damaged somehow that the end detached somehow), but the idea that it could have been attached separately and not held down well enough certainly looks possible, but doesn't appear to be part of the known history of it that I've heard about. I wouldn't bet my life on it, however. Its not the light shining through, its a reflection. Its all one piece.
Yes very "cleaned up" or idealised.
I was just looking at the darkmatterprops, and I was thinking of picking up a raven bar version. They offer three finishes, a shiny gold (no thank you) an antique gold, and something they call “custom finish” which they say is inbetween the shiny and antique.Dark Matter Props (Mike Spurgeon) is selling a variety of Ra headpieces on Ebay, Etsy, and other platforms.

Their custom finish is a new offering as that wasn't available when I ordered mine. Looks like they take the shiny version and antique it with an acrylic wash or similar. Looks pretty good and is probably the most accurate finish.I was just looking at the darkmatterprops, and I was thinking of picking up a raven bar version. I am leaning toward the custom finish, do you have any thoughts to add?
