ST- The Experince Auction preview vid

Such a sad sight... :(

The starship "graveyard" made me cringe... especially the large crack in Voyager's hull.

It is a shame that the history of Star Trek cannot be preserved in a museum or something!
I know that it still has a lot of life in it and it could have brought in a lot of money!

It is truly sad!:unsure

Yes, but how much of this stuff is the real deal and how much is replica? I went to ST-The Experience three times and a lot of the display pieces were replicas.

None of that stuff is ST history to be saved. While kinda cool, it's all replica sets and costumes made for the tourist attraction that was The Experience. The props and costumes from the museum displays (most of which were replicas also) were taken back by CBS/Paramount after the attractions closing.

As for the announced reopening of The Experience in downtown Vegas, well that fell through. Word has it that CBS/Paramount is still thinking of relaunching The Experience elsewhere, but who know when and where.

That is horribly depressing. I had the chance to go there just once, and it was fantastic looking. I just remember staring at the large starship models and thinking to myself how much I would give for one of them. How could they let them get handled so poorly? Clearly nobody cared.

After wanting to go forever, I finally got to Vegas last weekend...two years after the thing was gone. Dammit.

I've been to it a couple of times....really a shame how that looks and hope those pieces find good collector's homes. At least I took photos from the experience when I was in Vegas to have memories of it. Maybe someone should start a tribute thread to cheer us up. :)

Man, I used to love Star Trek The Experience! I made sure to visit everytime I went to Vegas, at least once a year. I even did the backstage tour. It's disappointing that the place has closed down.

I suppose that, as the novelty of the place wore off, attendance and revenue must have dwindled. But the place closed down mere months before the new movie opened, which seems like a huge lost opportunity to make more money and grow the fanbase. That movie was HUGE, and really stirred interest in Star Trek among a lot of non-fans.

According to that video, they're selling some of the stuff at an auction during the Trek convention in Vegas this summer.
