I think you read that into the review. At no point was that stated.
But even if it was, so what? The criticism that a modern audience is willing to accept mediocrity is a valid argument.
My post with the
Yelp review was in reference to my observations of statements made by other RPF members, across multiple threads, regarding SNW.
Those statements, again, made by other members, seem to frequently describe SNW as:
1. Often falling short in writing quality, fumbling how they portray various characters, and failing to demonstrate an understanding of canon.
2. Observation #1 is OK because the franchise has occasionally had some clunky episodes or movies that fell short, in the past, and therefore, justifies the shortcomings often seen in SNW. Or, observation #1 is ignored as much as possible.
3. Despite the shortcomings often seen in the show, SNW is regarded as the best that Kurtzman has been able to offer as
Modern Trek. At least it’s not as offensive as Seasons 1 and 2 of
Picard or all of
Discovery.
These are just observations.
Also…please don’t take statements that I make on this board too seriously…I am a Dunsel, after all. I’m not trying to personally insult anyone here.
