Hi all,
Prolly shudda added this to the other thread but here goes anyway..
Just a few pics of my buildup, found about 90-95% of the kits after reading through the original thread and after some advise from a couple of members here, and over at SS builder.
Saturn 5 parts for rear of ship
This ring was for the engraving of the tubes, a tip I found on this forum, can't remember who posted that , but thanks a lot whoever that was.
Wings with added styrene edges, and resin copied parts, these were a pain to do especially the twenty odd parts from the Morser Karl,(there's only four in the kit) I had difficulty getting castings with no bubbles in the sticking out bits....must have casted about fifty to get enough usable ones Aarrghhh !!. worth it in the end though.
I built a styrene center box and added the kit bits to that, I found the chronicals book very useful as the front view in that book is fairly close the finished size.
this is a scratched part for under the center box, to save buying another kit, I took measurements from the original part.
Almost there..
Didn't have a clear pic of this area, I only knew that the airfix harrier part needed to go there, it looked like there were some other bits and pieces as well so I just stuck on what looked about right. I also had to scratch a few more parts using kit parts for reference. Saves buying two more kits..
The rear..
Finished !
Looks a bit more blue in real life and matches close to the pics in the chronicals book...well to me anyway.
I was surprised how much went into such a small model, I thought it would be a fairly quick build when I started, but it took a while.
Let me know what you think, thanks for looking.
Must make a start on the falcon next..
Cheers
Phil
