SS Buck Rogers Starfighter

Hey, guys. I was wondering if anyone had any good shots of the bottom of the craft? I was kinda counting on the painter's guide for the placement of the panels on the underside. I'm surprised no one has posted pictures of their finished Thunderfighter yet.

Thanks.
Bill

I'll have mine up shortly. I was waiting to hear on some the decal placement questions I asked in this thread and they never came through, so I just went ahead finially figured out where most of them go and I almost finished decaling it last night.

I gotta finish decaling it and do the final weathering.

I did not use the paint guide here and went with what I felt looked better to my eye to have it look like what it would have without the flash on it from the cameras.

That kind of sounds like what I'm doing, Lynn. I'm more or less just using pics for placement of the light, medium, and darker panels. Mine may be a bit darker than some, no one in my area seems to carry the "Painters Touch" versions of the recommended paints. :( I'm shooting for the no flash photo coloring as well. Seems like this thread kind of got abandoned, leaving some of us high and dry. :unsure Glad to know someone else is still working on one.

Hi

Just wanted to know if this can still be ordered? I do not have the money for it at this time, but would like to get this at sometime in the future.

Jim :confused

I was looking at this thread last night and some people asked to see the older kit of this. This is one of the JK circa 95-96, with the pilot figure.I cannot see any bulge to the underside as mentioned. It did have one of the fins broken in moving which I repaired. It is made of dark grey resin and is solid.Alexander

I have both the Jim Key kit and the new kit. I think the bulge they are refering to on the Jim Key kit is on the large rectangular panel on the underside that would have covered the mounting point on the ship. My kit has a slight wave in that panel.

Here are some of the differences in the two kits.

Underside- The new kit left off some very small raised panels that are on the Jim Key kit.

Lower rear panel circular detail- The new kit repeats the upper circular details on the bottom. The Jim Key kit has recessed circular detail on the bottom and the detailing is different than the top details.

Cockpit side detail- The Jim Key kit has a raised side panel detail on the inside lower wall of the cockpit. This detail is missing on the new kit.

Engine exhaust detail piece- The new kit has a small gear looking detail recessed into the center of the exhaust detail piece. This is not on the Jim Key kit.

Can you post pic's of the two, showing the differences?

can anyone tell me what size the thunder fighter (starfighter) studio miniture was i was toled it was 22.7 inches long

I just picked up a studio scale Thunderfighter that I assume was from this run that is without decals.

Does anyone have any extra decals they would be willing to sell to me, or have a source they may point me towards?

Thanks
