Buck Rogers in the 25th Century pilot helmet

Has anyone here made a quality starfighter pilot helmet from Buck Rogers? With all the helmet replicas out there, I'm really surprised there are none available.
I was lucky to visit a local collector a few weeks ago who had a screen used one as well as numerous costumes from the show in his collection. It got me thinking why has no one really tackled this? I thought it was a great design.

The 3D file is pretty accurate, but the helmet is HUGE!

but when you see pics from the show, you will realize they had lotsa padding.

Also, the side pieces have a wide degree of variation. The pieces provided in the 3D file dont have an upper, rear portion that I sculpted out of FreeForm Air. I blew up a side reference photo to get the scale correct.

The originals had the lower part of a styrafoam bike helmet inside them. My friend has a screen used original and I was like , hey that's an old bike helmet bottom half in there. It was huge.

I have a fiberglass one cast from a screen used but I never got around to getting padding for it. Can anyone suggest a decent pad?

Maybe a Stormtoooper helmet pad?

Agreed. Odd, I don't recall any runs either. Great helmet though!

No, No...I'd just like to own one. Ya know, without having to make 500 of them.

I'd love one. Two if I could get one painted like the helmets in the Return of the Fighting 69th episode.

There was a run of kits here many years ago. I have no idea how many were made nor do I remember who managed the run. But I do remember it because I came close to getting one.

That’s where I got mine. Nick Tung is your guy. He offered 10 helmets in fiberglass and only did five (I got one) and ten in resin, which I believe he also did five only. Don’t get me wrong, he never screwed anyone, yes, he was a standup guy. I believe he went by the avitar Houston Robocop. But I do believe he is out of the hobby now.
Nick’s helmet is still one of the crowning pieces of my collection.

Funny story, about ten years ago Gil Gerard was at a a convention where I was a dealer. We brought the helmet to Gil and he swore it was screenused. I knew better. I asked him to sign it and he obliged. However, he said he would only sign in on the outside. I asked if he would sign it on the inside. He refused. So, my helmet went unsigned. I mean, seriously, why would I want him to sign the helmet on the outside?

Funky, do you have pics of your helmet? Anyone keep in contact with Nick? We really need to get another project going for these someday.

Finally made it to the old proper room today. It’s a separate structure from my house.
You can tell I’ve had it for years as the ear cups are starting to turn a little yellow specifically the left one. I just need to go out and re-spray it.

I was recently offered $1000 for this helmet, but the rarity of it did not let me do it.

It's a beauty! That's for sure. I chatted with Nick a few days ago. He still owns the master and may consider a new run down the road. Keeping my fingers crossed!
