Looking good..

How do you know your engines are right and left???

Mine are indentical to each othe no matter what they are turned, everything matchs up the same way..?..

Lynn

Well, educated guess really. Mine lined up a little different and the 3 tabs that stick off the ends where it mounts look like they go the way I lined it up. Hopefully I'm right. :)

Are your three tabs on the engines going the same way with the same pattern on each engine or are they different each engine with a distinct pattern from each other?

My tabs on each are going the same way on each engine..

Man... I can tell you "I got my kit fast." is much better than "were is my order" posts. To bad I cant get 4000 hits on the good news.

Indeed Steve... it was lightening fast delivery. :thumbsup :D :thumbsup

Excellent job man.

Ya know,.. looking at this kit... I almost want to give it a crack myself. :eek :confused :D LOL... hmmmmmmmmm I think Bob would be pretty upset after seeing how beautiful this beastie is. :eek

Thanks again Steve. I can't wait to get my hands on those TIEs in a few days.

I am always taken aback with how large these 1/24 scale models are. SWEEEEEEET..

OK guys the engines are a left and a right. There is a top and bottom. Look at the base of your engines where they will glue on the ship. One should have a slight square detail that can be seen. That is the right side engine. You need to mount it as to allow it to cant to the right a bit. The top of each engine has the same details. Find the detail that has a square and two little lines coming from it. Its right next to a huge bracket detail. Thats the top and its centered during the mounting process. I suggest you remove the pour sprue and drill and use a coat hanger to get it where you want first then repeat on the other side.

The instruction it looks like the Engines spun a bit on Ryan. That squarish detail with the two lines coming from it should be centered during the mount.

Steve, looks like you got the engines correct. Great job.

Steve

PS guys.. Celebration is in order.

I just received my college degrees today. I earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice concentrating in Anti and Counter Terrorism from the American Military University APUS and I also received an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice through the Community college of the Air Force. I graduated with Honors with a final gpa of 3.778 Man I’m glad that’s over. Took an 20 year Air Force career to complete it. Took a class here and there, didn’t want to have that student stigma :) Will start my Masters work beginning of the year.

Thanks Steve. I'm still a little confused on my engines.
Here are my engines.

Next to the two lines and one has a small rectangle and the other has a large rectangle next to the two lines.

Which one is the left and right looking at this pic?

Lynn

The one on the right is the right engine. The photo is basicly the bottom side of the engines. Flip them to find the detail i explained earlier. Ryan is reworking the instructions to show proper placement. If you look at the instruction his is right but they twisted a bit and the centerline needs to be rotated back a bit.

Steve

Sent my paypal last night. I can't wait to tackle this thing.

Been on the mad search all day for reference pictures for
painting and so on. Gathered up a pretty good group of
pictures.

(Thanks to those who posted links in this thread too.) :D

Thanks for the engine clear up..
That was better, I never noticed the square you were talking about before.

Is the Cockpit canopy supposed to be perfactly sealed to the body and the seam perfactly filled? or is there supposed to be a natural body line and seam where they meet?

Lynn

Not to confuse things, but "left" and "right" depends on how you look at it. How about "port" and "starboard"? ;)

Jay,

Yes, LEFT (PORT) and RIGHT (STARBOARD) is correct, as I labeled them as though you were sitting in the pilots seat. Working on posting edited pics later tonight in this thread as links, and updated instruction to follow as soon as I finish them (tomorrow), get them to Steve and he can get them hosted and ripped to PDF.

Its been a bit too cold here weather wise to have any luck with painting, so I've held off working further on the paint guide until I could get a weekend and a nice long burn on the kero heater in the garage to kick up the temp enough to get good results with the paint. I did finish the cockpit, and will be mounting the canopy tonight and getting ready for the first coat of base. Thats tomorrow, so I'll work on the guide a bit more as the weekend goes on, tho Sunday's gonna be a pour day.

As I asked before we got side tracked...

Is the Cockpit canopy supposed to be perfactly sealed to the body and the seam perfactly filled? or is there supposed to be a natural body line and seam where they meet where the caonopy comes down?
