Split Second Props

Yeah, I usually make a list. As long as I can get a few props completed over the summer, I feel pretty good about it.

“What’s he on?!”

”Chocolate.”

I love this movie. It was the first time I heard “Nights in White Satin”; my discovery of Kim Cattrall; an enemy that resembled the Alien, yet just might be the Devil, and then there was Harley’s handgun and the auto shotgun they pick up near the end.

Keep up up the great work!

While this feels like a bit of a necro post, maybe that fits the subject matter considering the film. :)

Look what I finally got around to finishing up. Dick Durkin's revolver. Twice.

The gun on the left is my original build, based on an RG 69, it's an old Ekol Viper blank fire only. On the right is an RG 30 chambered in .32 S&W and it remains a live fire revolver. They used an RG 79 in the film, which is just a blank/gas pistol, but after years of trying to secure one in the states, I finally picked up the model 30 as it's damn near the same.

If you check back in this thread you will see that my first build, with the blank fire Ekol, the barrel/box was started very conventionally with wood for the box and a coated steel pipe for the barrel. Ultimately that just didn't work out for me. I ended up using Fusion 360 to model these so they would be an exact fit, and I could revise the model as needed for whatever gun I was using as a base.

The sights are from brass eagle paintball guns. I got those years ago when I first started to plan this build out. I do plan to recreate those in fusion 360, and they will be offered for free download on thingiverse when I'm done with it, as will the barrel/box files, for anybody else who wants to build one of these.

I also recently picked up a Crosman 3357, so that will be my next Split Second build, and it should not take me 4 years to finish it.

I hope. :)
