Sphere Oxygen backpack

Anyone know anything about this backpack? I think it's really cool. Surely it's built around a real world item/backpack. I do know it has a Ashcroft pressure gauge on it. Any ideas? I'be been looking up sprayers, oxygen packs, scuba packs, and knapsack sprayers.

Looks like something you would find as a engine attachment of some kind...a fairly big engine; fighter plane/speed boat
