My flat black rattle can got a little loose on me, so there are a few drips I need to sand down and repaint. After that I can mask off everything so I can paint the shrouds!

.....thumbsup....it aint like that bro....I think what you are doing is fantastic..especially with an HCG grenade launcher, its not easy to mix and match a build....you are doing an awesome job,:love I love to see stuff like this, always learning something new, on how folks like you can make a masterpiece out of a resin kit, my hats off to you sir...cool:thumbsup

Alright pulse rifle people. Since I'm scratch building the vent assembly, if anyone has any kind of templates I would appreciate it. Otherwise I'll just take measurements off the resin piece I have

I cant remember who,:$ but someone on the rpf, used to have a template, somewhere ,and measurements were right, I have seen them somewhere, I will try to look into that..:confused..can anyone help this man, get the correct layout of the barrel vent ???...:thumbsup

I have! Several times actually! :lol. Definitely some great tips there for sure :thumbsup

I touched up the heavy areas last night, then masked off the black today and painted the shrouds. When I get home from work tonight I should have a mostly complete pulse rifle!

Also picked up more styrene and took some measurements for the barrel vents. Should be able to get some time in on those tomorrow

Kevin, you may need to adjust the size but the Quest Nerf Pulse Rifle build had templates for styrene barrel vents.
Is the Matsuo GL no longer made?

Spatcave, those are great videos. It is so hard to resist the rifle kit when your instructors are in uniform. :cool

Fly4v: It's not a Matsuo GL - it's actually a HCG launcher, I believe. Matsuo sold me one when he was busy stripping them of their shrouds. Got the stock and barrel/vent, as well.

Alright, update time!

I set out this morning to scratch build the barrel vents using styrene. I took the measurements off the resin assembly provided with the kit. First, I drew everything out on the styrene

Then drilled out the vents using a 1/4" bit in my drill press

Heated and shaped, sanded and primed

Fit everything on the rifle to check for tolerances, then glued the vent assembly to the barrel

Painted flat black, and back on the rifle to see how she looks!

The barrel/vent assembly is in the garage with the clear coat drying right now (since I cleared the rifle earlier today). Once it is dry, I'll glue it in place and this puppy is done!

Kevin, let me be the first to say that your Spulse turned out FANFREAKINTASTIC (not sure it's a real word)!!!!!!!!!! That is just pure awesomness. That vent turned out great. I have seen some great Spulse rifles in the past but yours is now the cream of the crop. Great job. Crap, I don't know what else I can say.......

And your paint came out so good. I painted mine in segments, so I had less masking to do - and when I saw that you had assembled everything, I thought it might be a tough road for you when it was time to paint, but you really nailed it.

Are you going to leave it pristine, or will you be weathering it?

Thanks man, really appreciate it. I think (for now at least) I will leave it pristine. A lot of my pieces in my collection are more on the idealized side, so it fits. Plus, weathering is something that can always be done later.
