Spacetrooper Backpack- Found !! New pics added

Re: ANH Space Trooper Backpack

I'm wondering about that square 'shadow' up around the ceiling and down the left wall. What's up with that? Doesn't someone here know Joe J.? If anybody would know, he would.

Interesting theory. Didn't they repurpose some other models for pickup shots? I think I read that the Death Star Exhaust Port was initially part of the Death Star Laser Control model.

Would make sense that they'd use what they had on hand... the tank models look pretty close, but I guess the big question is, are they the right scale?

Oh and maybe you could PM a mod to merge the threads?

T

I agree this Thread should be merged with the other.

I started a new Thread so the information would not get lost in an already multi-page Thread. Plus, I can't change the title of the other Thread to grab attention, pull in readers to see if I was correct or way-off base.

If I was wrong, I didn't want to take the already established Thread off track.

"Oh, someone posted again in the 'Spacetrooper backpack Thread'. I was reading that a while ago but it's just going in circles now........".

And, if I was right, then I wanted ALL the credit !! :)

Merged.

I dont think thats it though.

Im sticking to my original thought that it is a TD backpack frame with some sort of bottles... be they gas tanks, scuba gear, what have you.

I do see the little umm.. thingies pointing at the top that would make you think its them but look at the pick of joe, the... thingies are alot more simplistic in design.

my 2 cents

Tried to clean it up a bit.

See, this photo makes me believe even more that it's the same object from the Death Star trench. The overal shape, the distance between the t tubes, everything.

Re: Spacetrooper Backpack- Found !!

I was gonna go the uh-uh that ain't it route, but your closeups above are more convincing.

Someone said "AMT Fruehauf Tanker Trailer" would those be big enough??

They kinda remind me of big squeezy bottles you'd get washing up liquid or poster paint in...

SAS
I'm convinced it is the Fruehauf. It is a big kit. I'll post pics when I get home today and show you why I belive it is the tanker.

After recently returning from the London Exhibtion and seeing some of the props up close, I'd say yes... These are them!

As an dea of scale, the ISD (just the command bridge) is about 8ft long! Also yes, why not recycle parts? Saves money and time. You look hard enough and the same prop is used all over the place. Just turned upside down or something so it fools us.

What's the bottom bit though?

Did anyone get to speak to the chap in CIV about this?
Ken Ralston?

I think that thse 2 bottles are 100% what was used on their backs. If you look at the top right picture you see how how big the gun tower is. Gives you an idea of how big those bottles would have been too.

I'd dsay they fit the size of what's on Joe's back prefectly

Plus, then the ab buttons are there so this is a post Tunisia shot, so yes a TD backplack may have been the support base....?

Here's my idea of what they lok like in terms of scale, ratio and position on back.

Hope you like them. Let me know your thoughts....if they're nice lol
