Some shots of my collection (new pic page 3)

Decided I was long overdue to post some pictures of my own collection, so after a conversation with Spinner44.com I decided to do a bit of a film noir approach to my lighting setup (if interested check out my description on flickr for more information) as a nod to Indy and Blade Runner.

This is only a small sample, but I really liked how the shots turned out, I may do more in the future...

Nice set of Rick Ross PKD's, and very nice photography. I like the fact that you still use shadows in your shots.

Oh man those pictures are looking fantastic, and the props offcourse:cool

Re: Some shots of my collection

Is that the Wonder Woman from Confessions of a Superhero?

Re: Some shots of my collection

The Tyrell 1k note is beautifully photographed! I see you've been able to capture the lighter background. :thumbsup

I also have to confess I wanted to reach out and grab the idol. :love

Nice work,

Re: Some shots of my collection

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the feedback.

About the blasters, they were a bit of a challenge because I was laying them down, but moving the lights to try to get the same lighting effect as the others with some mixed results. I think some of the shadows turned out more harsh than I would have liked.

On the Wonderwoman in my photostream, I am not sure what part of the DC universe it is from and dont know anything about her, but she takes one heck of a photo huh?

Enjoy!

Nah, Confessions of a Superhero is a documentary about those panhandlers on the Hollywood Walk o' Fame... it seems to be her. I don't know anything about comics outside of that. :p

Re: Some shots of my collection

Btw Walter, what camera are you using ?

I think a good picture of a prop is almost more important than the prop itself, no matter how good you build a prop, if the pictures are bad, the prop is gonna look bad.
Offcourse, the door swings both ways, if the prop isn’t that good (accuracy for example) a good picture can make the prop look good.

Re: Some shots of my collection

Great prop collection - really nicely photographed!

And it seems we met at SDCC! This is me and my wife in your photostream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/babbyonline/3797511198/

E-Wan: we did indeed! I remember it too! Too bad we didnt talk except to exchange pleasantries. You and your wife have great costumes and you had such a pleasant disposition I thought that I really needed to get that photograph. Thank you for letting me take it!

Robbie: Could not agree more with your thoughts on photography and props. I have been practicing a lot of product photography lately because of the heat outside (107-110 degrees Fahrenheit) so I recently grabbed my props and started shooting. I have been studying photography for just over a year and I have found a new love. I have been assisting on some pro shoots, assisting with a wedding in September and November and working on my own shoots a bit lately.

I just retired my Nikon D80 and purchased a Nikon D300. I enjoy the Canon's as well... both make really good cameras.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Re: Some shots of my collection

Secret weapon revealed :lol

The Nikon D300 is impressive piece of hardware you got there, my goodness, 12.3 mega pixels. I own a cheap Casio Exlilim camera, with a lousy 7.2 mega pixels.
But my little camera forces me to be creative with light and composition, it has it’s limitations.
I also use my camera to shoot footage of my RC cars, if my car crashes into the camera it will ‘only’ cost me (approx.) 200 euro’s, the damage on a Nikon D300 will cost a lot more.

I’m looking forward to see more of your extraordinaire pictures :thumbsup

Re: Some shots of my collection
