Some latest stuff. 1st Bob C.'s 95 car. This is a closeup of the Chevy 350 small block engine with a March pulley system.

Some closeups of the engine in the car. A look under the hood if you will. Note the aluminum cast hubs.

These cars are just massive projects. Bob is pretty much taking this car to the limit right from the get-go. Massive undertaking.

Next is the new Begins belt so far. Every joint on this belt is now hinged with a steel rod. I counted 36 steel rods. They go through each joint and into the bars, which can be used to create an electrical circuit. The strength of this belt comes from the rods, not the individual pieces of the belt per se'. Hence the belt is vary lightweight. The center piece in the buckle will be a snap on/snap off piece. The buckle bracket pivots perpendicular to the rest of the belt. Fairly labor intensive.

Bob / Bob,

This is just AWE inspiring work. Outstanding. I'd say it's all better than the originals.
You two make quite a dynamic duo. :D

All very impressive stuff but what has happened to updates for the TUMBLER..? Argubly the greatest Batmobile ever.

The fact that I agree with that statement blows my mind... Incredible work.

Any plans on having the buckle act as a 'safety-rig' like in the film (eg: when Batman wraps the wire from his grappler around the buckle, then 'flies' off)? I'm not sure if the snap-off feature is for this, but it definitely made me think of that particular scene.

Yes it is just for that. In fact what it is, is that the center piece spins, and coils the monofilament like a bobbin being wound on a sewing machine. Once it's full, it can be popped off, and replaced with a new one. i.e. the gun is only for shooting, the buckle does the lifting, or decending. All the compartments will be made from chrome molley steel welded. Each comp. will track along the bars. The Buckle is also where the weight of the body is focused, if that makes sense, not the belt as a whole. But, yes I am doing the version I call the "cat burgaler" suit, when he makes he presence first known to Gordon.

What about the TUMBLER? :cry
[/b]

It's comin'. I am sort of working back and forth. I expect to be working on this begins project for at least another 2 years.

another interesting thing about the belt. This belt is sort of the center of the universe on this suit. When I worked for six flags doing the batsuits back in 92' I developed a body temperature device that I wanted to incorporate because of the extreme heat index on the stunt shows, they just plain didn't want to pay for it. Well, I am going to try to put it to the test. The belt will control the body temperature. Also, see the inner circle inside the oval on the belt - that pops out, and the two dial like things pop in place. So, this is where the cable lowers you, it is a disposable item. good for one use, then you pop it out, grab another and pop it in place. The buckle is hollow, and holds the mech. the buckle holds your weight, not the belt. You will see it all.

No, not working on the next batman film. If we did, it would more than likely be as a crew member on some specific area. I might be say, a foam assistant or something. And this would only be if we had our union licence, or met the local rules for working on a big budget production which is usually tied to having lived in the area for a certain period followed by a union fee, or something.
I was offered a position by Bob Ringwood on Batman Forever back in 94', but he wasn't really too in touch with the local rules regarding the costumers union, and I was informed of this right when I walked the door. But, if you know someone in a power position they can bend the rules I'm told. But I don't know if it would really be worth it anyway. I would be living far away from home, part of a big crew. Not having worked on more than two films, and not being an established part of the scene, I don't how much fun that would be. This way I get to do everything, and get credit for it. And do it my way.

Thanks all for all the great support. I know some of it sounds crazy, but trust I have done lots research, and it will all be done safely, and gradually with incremental testing. I have to do something more with this stuff than just sculpt, and crank out a display piece. Been there done that for so long.

Brin, you may not be around???
