So, no RPF love for the new pilot, Poe Dameron?

A few more. pilot02a.jpgpilot05a.jpgpilot09a.jpgpilot17a.jpg

Dang, looks like the suit fabric is a nylon cordura after all. That's going to be UNBEARABLE unless it's freezing cold out.

Anybody have any thoughts on the ribbed elastic? Maybe the washing/dying process made the ridges smooth out like that?

Hey folks, I'm hoping some really good costume and prop people will work on these. I usually buy for Cal (Mon Cal). I hope he decides to work on items soon.

The flight suit material is NOT like the old trilogy material. It had a reflective sheen to it. Hard to see in the pics. If anyone is working on stuff. Let me know. I already ordered boots and gloves. I have more pics, but not much different. It was hard to get close to it since there was a proximity alarm. (That I kept tripping and made everyone annoyed).

wow. thanks for the pictures. currently finnishing the chestbox and wanted to start with the harness soon...although i am now slightly confused about the length of the backstrap of the harnbes. poe's seems to be way shorter than the one exhibited.

Some folks are saying it is a Cordura type of fabric. It is a plain weave fabric. The trick will be finding a Cordura that is not PVC coated, is garment weight, and the right color. If you find it, post it. There is no way I'll wear a PVC coated fabric for more than 10 minutes. It would be a sweat bag. Also, at least so far, there is no sign and sheen on camera. I think a lot of use are going to go with a canvas weight fabric. The fabric I'm using will be a polypropylene, which will have a similar look to cordura, without as much sheen and WITH a bit more breathability.

If you find the right fabric, however, please share!

In the BTS video, we see the back strap in three lengths. Short - right below the belt. Medium - like Poe's, and Long - like on the figure.

I'm currently working on a screen-accurate/found-parts Poe Dameron/Resistance Pilot ejection harness sourcing the same webbing and base belts/buckles used for the production: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=248527&highlight=Poe+Dameron. Quite a few Rebel Legion members are interested in them, so I'll be announcing a run very soon once my prototype is completed. I'm also thankful to have seen a private collector's ejection harness and suit from the film, which made all the little quirks of the belt possible to recreate.

Holster and blaster are in the works too using the same airsoft gun model they sourced for their castings. Those will come at a separate date.

I noticed a couple of differences between the suit on display and Poe's suit. Aside from the gloves, and differing strap lengths. The suit on display has placket offset from the the collar.

Conversely, Poe's suit has a placket that is flush with the collar.

Another couple of observations, based on the suit on display.

There is a single seam separating the top part of the flight suit from the bottom. The placket is a separate piece all together.

As for the fabric, I used a double knit weave for my initial suit which is a decent match but need to be doubled up to achieve the thickness. It is very comfortable and frankly feels like pajamas. Curious about the Cordura, I use Cordura in a lot of my costumes and it is wonderful for structure, breathability is a challenge though and you would still need to line it as the it would be irritating to the skin

I'll be willing to make a purchase when you're ready.

Whilst looking around on Ebay. I know it's nothing like the same and it is listed as 'Orange Waterproof Coverall Overall Jumpsuit Suit Russian Naval Ship' but inspiration perhaps???

Even has the leg straps!

Some one I know who saw it in person says the eleastic looks exactly like the ruffled elastic we ae using, except it has been tinted.

No way I'm gonna make the flight suit out of cordura, unless somefinds a garment friendly type. It would be a sweat beg. The only cordura Ive found the in the right color is polyurethan coated, which would be even worse. No thanks. But I'll laways be on the lookout.

Since I live in Minnesota, a Cordura version would at least be wearable 9 month out of the year!
:lol
