So, no RPF love for the new pilot, Poe Dameron?

Yea, the buckles are just decorative, the straps are stitched down until about 2 inches away on either side.

They're not just regular sliders, the center bar seems to be a separate piece and it looks pretty large, kind of like the knurled bar on the roll pin buckles.

I was thinking the same thing. I haven't found any buckles like them yet. They DO make 1 inch roll pin buckles, but the frame looks nothing like these. Right now, I'm just planning to use some rectangular frame sliders. But I'm keeping my eyes out for the proper buckle.

Man, the more I love at it, the more I think the SPH-4 IS the base helmet... just with a lot of modifications.

I am sure the SPH-4 helmet where not used for the movie helmet. To much differences to the movie helmet. I think the designer where inspirit by this helmet but made a 3D model and print them out.

Begin to work on a pepakura helmet which I buy on ebay. Very good base!

Can somebody link the Rebel Legion thread for the group buy on radiator hoses? I can't find it.

I was considering putting together one of these. But something tells me after the movie comes out, many prop makers and companies will start mass producing accessories, jumpsuits, flakvests, etc. for this costume. I think I'll just get the boots and gloves and let someone else do the heavy lifting ;) I'll get the rest of the costume stuff later. I'm willing to wait a year or so. I have no desire to rush to be first. Oooooh look at me, look at me!!

Ditto, I feel the same way. I'll be collecting bits and pieces as I go-- things like the hose and stuff-- but for the flak vest and coveralls and such I'm sure people will be producing them sooner or later... I know that someone is even working on making the gloves, so those should be easier to find. I'll wait until things are more readily available, that's just fine with me.

Besides, I've got other projects to work on. Gotta finish my latest B-wing pilot costume, revamp my Jedi costume, finish my Palpatine and I'm also slowly working on a First Order TIE fighter pilot... XD

Cool, I didn't know anybody had modeled the chest box. Somebody mentioned on an earlier page that a Rebel Legion member had suggested a group buy of the hoses, I don't remember who it was and I don't have the time just now to dig through the thread for it.

Btw, for anybody in the US, I found a fantastic fabric for the flight suit at Jo-Ann fabrics. It's a 7 oz orange stretch denim. It's RN number is 13855960 if you plan to go looking for it. It's a slightly red orange and the weight is perfect, it's also a cotton/poly blend so it doesn't wrinkle as much as a cotton. It's not TOO stretchy, either, but it won't matter if you're flat lining the suit in a batting and inner lining like the original.

Check rebel legion for chestbox. We wont know accuracy till its screened.

I got one of Gerry's chest boxes. It's 3 D printed, so requires some clean-up, but the quality is good, and it appear pretty accurate to my eye, but that is based on our relatively limited references, of course.

yup eyeballing but still awesome

I think I'm going to contact him about it. It's one of the parts that I could make myself, but it's probably not worth it.

I used that same fabric for my Flight suit. only problem now that I ran into last week, was that its going out of stock for the year. had to pick up a couple extra yards to finish up the chaps and ran all over town to get it, only one Joann had any near me within a reasonable distance, and the warehouse was out so I couldn't just order online.

I have been studying this picture quite a bit, if you zoom in on mid section, it looks to me a lot like he has g-suit leggings on over his flight suit or possibly something along the lines of the Russian MIG G-suit like this:

I can certainly see some similarities.
