So Cal Prop Party!! PICS START ON PAGE 33!!!!

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

By the way, I am typing this from Philip Wise's computer in his workshop as Funkyjedi is cooking the chili for tomorrows Texas Prop Party!

Sum-b**ch! Were logistics different, I'd love to be there too!

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

"Dropping by" vs. "checking in on significant other after being abandoned at home all day with two youngsters"......? :lol I am in favor of a cover charge for the RPF slush fund.
Don't forget drinking and raising hell and such! My other concern is how to control "drop-ins" that we don't know and preventing them from obtaining any unattended items! I trust we will all keep an eye on non-badged individuals and keep an eye on each others swag!!!!:thumbsup

Capn Jack,

I can't fault anyone for wanting to save a few bucks....I'm guilty of that too but if I want to "drop-by" the Comic Con, a Sci-Fi Convention or go to one of many events I attend I still have to pay regardless of how much time I'm spending there even if I take the little woman and she just wants to take a look they still charge me. Most shows let kids under 12 attend free with a paying adult.....wives or girlfriends pay full price and sometimes 1/2 price depending at what event your going to. I don't think this should turn into something complicated for Brad and perhaps he might come up with a "set price" that either includes or doesn't include food for such things as "drop-ins. We should all be wearing badges like last year and a simple colored dot sticker on the badge would indicate you paid for the full event. Which I feel most here should pay since it is my understanding that Brad had to order food for so many people in advance and he shouldn't be stuck with the bill just because someone wants to save a few $$....plus why complicate this having to watch who has paid for food and who hasn't?
Drop-ins are easy since a roll of Name Badge stickers of 2 colors can be bought at any office supply house to handle that problem....we use this simple system at almost all of my clock shows and haven't had any problems.
This is my personal feeling and I feel is fair. We had a few "drop-ins" last year and Brad turned a blind eye to it but in all honesty it isn't fair to him and especially to all the guys who did pay. My impression is Brad doesn't want to create alot of hard feels over money since this is suppose to be a friendly get-together which I'm sure is why he doesn't take the "hard line" over this but he does work hard to make this event happen and he shouldn't lose $$$ over it.

One last thing Capn Jack.....I'm not singling you out but talking about the possible 10 or more other guys who might want to do the same thing so this isn't about you personally.

I say we have an official "RFP hand stamp" with cool ultraviolet ink just like the big amusement parks have. Yeah, that's how we roll!
To Mr MattMunson: It's not just kids, I also experience the world through touch and experience! (if you know what I mean) :)

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

To all above that mention terms of being a cheap ??????, not paying, etc. my question was not regarding me not paying! It was addressed to the planners as to whether or not people that are related that are in town that want to stop by and see me and/or props.

My son wants to meet "daddy's prop friends" and see Herbie. My nephews are budding Star Wars fans because of their dad!

The question just simply stands! Do they need to pay or not! If yes than they said they wouldn't attend not because they are cheap or I am cheap but simply because they would only attend for an hour than go off to the shopping center.

Goodness me folks way to spin this into something it is not! This is NOT Comic-Con, Dragon Con, Anime Expo.....! It is just a bunch of prop fans getting together for comradeship, revelry, and fun!

Planners? What say you? Seasoned Prop Party Vets? What say you?

I say PM Brad and ask how much he feels is fair......he has the last call on this matter. I'm sure he'll chime in and settle the matter. I only mentioned Comic Con as an example. Some events I go to are small get togethers like this one but we all still chip in. Also speaking for myself, in no way was accusing or implying you of being cheap. I was just trying to answer your question best way I could and I was honesty speaking about the event as a whole and not singling you out...I'm sure other guys might want to bring their families and might ask the same questions....just like I might bring my kids. :cool

Jack I hope you will bring your wife and kids..would love to meet them and lets not pick on him...he actually brought up something we should get settled so there's no confusion....Brad?

Every-one....take a deep breath..and release..

I dont know why we are making this more complicated then it should be. This is for us to have fun and join in the brotherly (including women) love (platonic way). Yes, some things should be clear and talked about, but seem like it has gotten off the path a few times.....

Capt Jack, dont take it personally...I really hope you are not...Micdavis was joking....no-one is calling you cheap..Mike has an unique sense of humor.....This was a problem last year which we are trying to address. You brought up a legitimate question which we forgot to address in the beginning.

It is not like they are money grubbing or anything, they just want to make it clear for other members that were considering the same thing....the room and food is expensive. Brad had to pay in advance and took the risk of getting paid back fully or not....I think two prop parties ago, the person who fronted the money didnt get all of it back....We dont want to leave him in the hole...it wouldnt be fair.....As you can see a few people already dropped out after the price was set, so not sure if brad is taking a hit or not since the price was based on people who said they were interested....

if anybody has questions regarding funds, they should pm Brad directly.

or

if some-one seriously cannot afford to go because you have been laid off (not because you bought a brand new iphone or a new car or an expensive prop or saving to buy something else and you are all a sudden broke), then pm me and we can work something out....I would hate to have some-one not show up because they are too afraid/embarrish to speak up about their situation...Pm me and what we talk about will be kept confidential....I can only help a few people.....

I'm cheap, but I still paid for mrs.slave1pilot.(that's an understatement right there, let me tell you)

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

Just has an FYI. I actualy stopped by last years Prop party. I had just discovered the RPF and registration was closed at the time so I couldn't join. I saw that you guys had food right out in the hallway ('cause your room was a bit small) but I knew I didn't contribute so I went to the food court, ate my food and then came back to check out the props. None of you guys made me feel unwelcome at all. You had no idea if I even knew who the RPF was or I was just some guy at Dave and Busters that happened to walk by. You guys were great. I was a bit concerned about the safety of the props because I noticed there were a few others just wandering in. All in all I know you'll make anyone that shows up feel welcome.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

The Kitt which spends an inordinate amount of time in my driveway will be at a welder getting some functional Super Pursuit Mode parts attached to it so they can pop out on command at Knight Rider Festival in Vegas on the 16th. The other KITTs in the club aren't able to make it. Maybe next year...

--Brian

Art and I are up in Vegas- I would love to know more about the Knight Rider Festival! Much love for Kitt- when I got grounded as a kid, I got grounded from watching Knight Rider :lol

GREATLY looking forward to seeing the rest of your cars and hoping to get some pics with them :)

so are you officially not coming? is there a possibility you might show up?

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

I'm bringing my D9 Arc Gun, Some of my various Hand guns I make, Maybe my V knives If I can fix them up, my War Machine costume, and anything else I can find last minute! As to the bringing of friends Issue, I'm actually bri8nging my wife, and I paid for her. I'm thinking about others as well, so I may just over pay to make sure we all have fun, sound fair? Some of us have the funds right now and some don't. I used to buy for my friends when they didn't have money, and they would in turn buy for me when I was poorer. I know not everyone can do that, but I use it as an example of being a good human being. See everyone there (I hope) !

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

I was going to bring mine but if your bringing yours I'll leave mine at home that way there's not alot of double things there.

Do bring yours... Looking forward to seeing one in person.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

pending prior commitment, there is a possibility that I might be able to make it.

if I do, might just bring a proton pack.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

You'll be happy to know the RPF is NOT blocked in China, unlike utube and IMDB.

I'll bring my FP rifle and my Disney TWA moon ship plus whatever else I can scrounge off my shelves.
