Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

The only way that list could get better is with a KITT.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

The Kitt which spends an inordinate amount of time in my driveway will be at a welder getting some functional Super Pursuit Mode parts attached to it so they can pop out on command at Knight Rider Festival in Vegas on the 16th. The other KITTs in the club aren't able to make it. Maybe next year...

Yep. I think the Magnum car is going in for a very expensive service that week, something like that.

I don't think I'll be bringing anything this time, so extra table space for others! I can't wait to see some of the items listed!

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

Looking forward to see the vehicles.

What is the story on family stopping by for an hour to see things? I know they are not paying but my sister in law and her two sons are in town. Both boys are Star Wars and BTTF fanatics. Their dad is a big model maker guru and on the boards as well.

Also my munchkin wants to meet Herbie the Love Bug!

Any of you LA types know where I can get some used and not so expensive mannequins? Hopefully the kind that can be broken down for travel and storage!

In my opinion...and its an opinion only.....one should pay regardless of how much time one spends at the party. Although not trying to be hard-nosed I feel at least pay the wifes entrance at perhaps minus the cost of the food provided unless she's staying for lunch and kids free under 12 years......after all it does help pay for everything. Of course its up to Brad to make that call but thats my 2 cents worth. The cars of course are free since they will be parked outside in full view of everything where anyone can see them.
As for the mannequins I would think somewhere in the Garment District of LA you should be able to find a Store that sells store close-out displays or used clothes displays.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

Sounds good. Has a "non-lunch non-dining only-visiting to see props" entrance fee been determined? :confused :confused

All kids are under 12.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

I personally think that if you have a significant other coming by just to "drop by", they should not be charged.

The cost is to cover food and the space. They will not be eating or showing their props.

If that were the case, the hordes of people not affiliated that come in and look at things for a while should be charged also.

Not being a jerk at all, and I do completely understand Tymers thinking, just feel that the member and any other that will be at the party the whole time and will be eating should be charged.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

Let your conscience be your guide. If you've got the cash, throw it in. If you're just being a tight wad. Stay at home.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

"Dropping by" vs. "checking in on significant other after being abandoned at home all day with two youngsters"......? :lol

I am in favor of a cover charge for the RPF slush fund.

Don't forget drinking and raising hell and such!

My other concern is how to control "drop-ins" that we don't know and preventing them from obtaining any unattended items!

I trust we will all keep an eye on non-badged individuals and keep an eye on each others swag!!!!:thumbsup

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

Well I didn't mean you specifically.

I just think we are all old enough to know how things go. Things cost money. The more people, the more trouble, the more money.

At the same time, I'd hate to see someone not come solely due to money, if they are generally interested in the hobby.

And if someone has to keep an eye out on who is doing this or that, it becomes work for someone and thus less fun for said someone.

Im the exact opposite. I say, if you're broke, you're not welcome. Heck, let's check w-2's a the door. 1099's too. Maybe a paycheck stub or two.

JUST KIDDING!!

My only concern is that the more "mundanes" that show up, the risk goes up. Not because they are malicious (though I suppose they could be) but just because they don't know the rules of the road. Where most of the people on this board understand that a silly chunk of painted resin could very well be someones prized posession that they've searched for for years, to someone else it might just look like something to be picked up and mishandled. Kids are particularly guilty of this, though through no fault of their own. They experience the world through touch and experience, not by looking at it. It's just different.

And the more crowded it gets, the harder it gets to keep an eye on things.

I'm TOTALLY against random walk ins from total strangers, by the way. If you don't know what the rpf is, you shouldn't be in that room. If you're at D&B just walking around and you thinhk it looks cool in there... tough toenails. Jog on. That's why we need a bouncer.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

Well, that room does have 2 big heavy doors if I remember correctly. I suggest we keep them closed since they are in direct path towards the game room and I'm sure 99% of the people and kids walking by will see costumes/props and will want to come in. Also they usually have something up on the Marquee above the room with the party info, if they do, I'd suggest just "RPF" and nothing about props.

In terms of visitors, if it's all day then yup pay for the ticket, if they are just dropping by at the end of the day to pick you up, than that's fine, but I'd limit it to family only, no friends. My GF is coming again and I paid for her, but that ALSO means I have a better chance at a door prize! :p

Brandon- are you gonna come up? I think you should!

:unsure tisk tisk, you should bring your proton pack....

There are two entrances to the room. One is near the hallway that leads to the game room and another door that connects to the pool table room. By keeping both closed at all the times, there shouldnt be a problem.

Badges should be enforce....even special guests should wear one, so we know who is who.....

lol it's in no condition to be shown off. Rebuilding it for Comic-Con. I MIGHT bring up a couple steampunk items, like my Vampire Hunter stuff, but nothing too big.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?

Hey Capt.
I don't know what to tell you other than there are other people attending that aren't expecting to eat (which is the majority of the cost).

So I wil leave you with this "You must do what you feel is right, of course"

By the way, I am typing this from Philip Wise's computer in his workshop as Funkyjedi is cooking the chili for tomorrows Texas Prop Party!
