Skyrim Dragonbone Dagger - build thread

I agree with you. I could probably get casting resin near where i live, but it would cost a great deal, compared to just using wood and pvc with paint on the top. It would have to be imported. Anyway though, what materials do you use for casting?
I too like to build things for fun as well as cosplay and larp, though there is a very small DIY presence where I live, and nothing like conventions, so not many places where my builds are appreciated. I saw your website, and I rather like it! You have some very nice props indeed!

Yeah, ok I need to import my stuff, too.
But you know every hobby has it's price and for this one, I'm willing to pay.
That's why I sell my casts, because like this I can get a bit of money back AND I can spend it on next projects.
I'm not getting richt through this.

Materials for the molds and casts are all from smooth-on so far.

Our contry is small, we don't have much conventions over here.
Maybe one or two per year?
But we have meadieval markets. On the other hand I could go to the country in the north, they have tons of conventions, even larp conventions.
I guess one of the biggest I heard.

Thanks, much appreciated!

Hmm, I tend not to want to sell my models, due to the fact that I get attached to them after constructing them, since I have to work each one from scratch, and by hand. However, if i were to use casting, I can do that just once and make a large number of props. This is giving me the spark of an idea...
Thanks a lot, I might be able to start making my hobby self sufficient now!

Alright and here's the rest of it. The Dragonbone Dagger project is done!
Next attempt is hopefully something bigger. I guess I can do this.
Small props are always nice, but now I want to try a bigger weapon.
We'll see how it goes…

Questions and reviews are always welcome :)

Hey thanks to you all.
I just wasn't satisfied with the resin I have.
Guess Smooth Cast 325 doesn't like thin casts? The blade was still a bit soft after days.

Like everything You make, it looks like You took it right out of the TV screen.
I gave one of those to my son in the game and he then gave me a unique robe I never saw in the game before. :)

Well, now I am feeling a bit jealous. My dagger is no where in comparison to yours...

Here is a picture of it. It is a bit smaller than yours, the length of the handle is around the width of a human hand, so it is a touch small, I ended up miscalculating the scale. I made a sheath for it out of MDF and fake leather, but messed that up too. I was trying out a lot of new techniques with both sheath and dagger, so hopefully future models will be better than these.
Dagger is made from PVC sheets, 'rivets' are toothpicks stuck into holes, and the ring is metal wire.
