Skyline

Had great visuals, but it was Independence Day and Cloverfield rolled into a syfy channel movie with a larger budget. It also kind of drags out in the middle, but don't worry, it drives right off a cliff towards the end.

Just saw this with arc60 (Happy Birthday btw, Alan)... Anyway, wasn't the F- one reviewer on AICN gave it, more like a C. I'd say Cloverfield meets Independence Day pretty much sums it up.

Just got back from it myself.

I agree with the others. C- minus rating.

Visual effects were pretty dang spiffy but the rest of it kinda
dragged. I enjoyed it for what it was. I wasn't expecting much
to begin with.

ID4 meets Cloverfield sums it up nicely.

Sadly, Battle, LA looks to be the same exact movie as this one.
Granted the same FX comapny did this film too. Or so I have read.

From what I've read "Battle, LA" is a better film. Skyline knocked-off a great deal of the story and than rushed to get it in theaters first. I don't have a link to the article, but there is a lawsuit involved... or something like that.

I'll wait til it's on cable. It looks like a ripoff of ID4, The Matrix, with some Crysis thrown in (minus the awesome Nanosuit).

It'll be in the 5.00 bin at walmart or 2.00 shipped from amazon soon enough. Battle: LA looks better just from the fact that it looks like effort was put into it. Skyline looks like a student film.

Bad dialog, didn't really care about the characters, crap ending. Cool visual effects, but that's about it.

OK, curious now, what's SO crap about the ending? Pls use a spoiler tag though...

I can tell you without spoiling- the ending isn't an ending. The story isn't over where they ended, like they're obviously trying to set up a sequel.

Oh, okay, thanks. I guess we sort of knew that without having to think about it, though. Everything is done with an eye to a franchise these days.

I guess what sounds different here is that they've handled it so clumsily that it's really offensive, yeah?

BATTLE, LA!

thats what im thinking about! THANK GOD ITS NOT SKYLINE.

i was talking with some friends about skyline being so bad, and i could have sworn there was another one that was military vs aliens, and they were like "nope. its skyline."

well. they're wrong.

Skyline...Yeeeeesh

I saw Skyline last night, and it SUCKED.This one was so badly done it doesn't even deserve a turkey of the year award. It would have been better if shown on the Sci-Fi channel on Mystery 2000 Theater being heckled and picked apart for 2 hrs.

I was checking the reviews at Rotten Tomatoes as well as some other sites. I checked out about 200 reviews, only ONE! was positive. Every one on Rotten Tomatoes hated it.

I think I'll wait until the DVD.
