MURDERBOT

I bought the first book a few weeks ago to read in anticipation of the series starting.
The trailer looks promising.
Again Apple are proving to be the home of top quality Sci-fi, between Foundation, For All Mankind, Severance and now Murderbot.

Well, I've watched the first 2 episodes and I'm not sold. I know its early, but so far there has been no development of any of the characters. Not sure why they're on a distant planet and not sure I'd care if any of them got eaten by a giant millipede. I'll keep watching because Apple TV usually delivers the goods, but this is a slow burn for me so far.

It's very much like the book. If you liked the book, this is fine. If not, you might not. The entire story is about Murderbot. It's really not about the people he's there to protect, although they become important later.

I blazed through the first book after getting strong recommendations post watching the first 2 episodes. I was on board with those two, but after reading the first novel, I'm excited to see how it gets adapted.

The books are really good. Short, but good.

I've watched the first 3 episodes today whilst dog sitting for a friend. Tonally the show takes some getting used to as you are dealing with a group of free wheeling characters, who aren't the disciplined types you would find in other sci-fi shows.
I had started reading the first book a couple of weeks ago in preparation for watching the TV show and I would say the production team have nailed the style, in terms of voiceover from Murderbot.

Will I renew my Apple subscription to watch the rest of the show weekly? Unlikely.
But when Foundation starts again for season 3, for which I will most certainly renew my Apple subscription, then I might binge the rest of the episodes whilst waiting for weekly episodes of Foundation to be released.

On the plus side, Murderbot's costume/armour is pretty cool and he has an interesting carbine blaster weapon.
