Sideshow & Hot Toys Baby Yoda (The Child) mods and accessories!

nice work,

if the head is made of resin and too hard to punch hair how is the sideshow hair attached?

they say it's punched don't they?

From what I can tell, they were actually able to punch the hair in small long bundles. I tried to take a pic.

Not sure how they did it though. It's definitely a much harder rubber/resin than the prototype head shown in the making-of vid. I tried to punch a strand myself and it's a pretty dense material. I couldn't get it to take. But I also have zero experience punching hair. Maybe there is a trick to it. The hands and feet are made of the same material. Not much give. On Sideshow's website materials listed are: fabric, plastic and resin.

wow, you got balls of steel to mod a expensive item
and you done a amazing job

got few questions
do you think the glue used in the hands/feet is very strong? do you think if getting the hands/feet hot can be removed without doing no/minimal damage?
How were the eyes attached to the head, by the inside? And are they glued in place? I noticed not all Baby Yoda's eyes are in the same postion
I wonder if one can move the eyes if not glued in, and just held in place by tension
Yes, the glue used for the hands and feet is incredibly strong. The two halves of the body come together to form a nub for each of the limbs. Then the arms and legs have glue applied and slide over the nubs locking the halves in place. From what I can tell the nubs are probably a inch long making it impossible to slide the arms off. I don't think heat would do anything. Perhaps a solvent could be applied to break up the glue, but it could also eat away at the resin or plastic. Not sure how the eyes are are installed. If I had to guess I would say they are glued in place from the inside. The head is filled with foam.

A run is possible if there is enough interest (y)
thanks for the information and pictures, trying to get SOMEONE/ANYONE to say what the head was made from was like pulling teeth!

i've seen a number of comments about positioning the head with it pointing lower down, do you think this would be achievable by cutting away some material? either the neck or body or both?

oh, a run of green child's eyelids would definitely be the weirdest runs i've ever seen on here!

It is like a semi-hard plastic, but there is some flex to it. Not at all like a solid resin.

fantastic mods!

and yes, id be in for a pair of these eyelids if you make a run of them!

I wonder how the eyelids would look if you don't do the rest of the mods? Does it just look like he's taking a nap?? Lol

Mods look So good! I thought the same thing about the hair on the ears. It is clearly seen throughout the show! I wonder why it didn't just come like that already?

Incredible and amazing work!!! I like doing some mods, but when it comes to any Sideshow statues I've always had this big personal rule to never screw with them. Not necessarily that might look worse at all, but I like them to stay original 100%.

I will be happy with the museum pose when I get my Child, BUT I have to say I wish they would have at least made those arms somewhat poseable the way you did it. The extra dynamic looks of the hands coming up is so nice. I like the little addition of the hair as well!

Beautiful job!

Next thing I wanted to do was add some hair to the ears. I think his head is made of resin. Too hard for punching hair. So I just glued some wool to them.

First I pulled a very small amount of wool. Then i made a few beads with superglue along the top ridge and pressed it on. Then worked my way down the back of the ear with some more glue.

Pressed on more wool, pulling it to cover more area and then trimming the excess with a pair of scissors.

I also trimmed some of the longer fly-aways on the top of his head.
Hi what wool did you use and where did you get it ?????

Thanks Mate he looks so much better with hair on the ears !

He looked hungry, so I made him a snack . . . :p

I've decided to do a limited run of custom hand painted one-eyed Sorgan frogs! These will be injection molded (not 3D printed) so they'll be very smooth and have a slight rubber-like give to them. I also embedded a magnet into the side so it can attach to his hand

I'll only be doing a limited run of these. I aim to have the first batch of 20 shipped before Christmas! Link to pre-order: INERTIA DESIGNS

I have a couple of other goodies in there I've been working on as well. One of which is an "upgrade kit" that includes wire for the arm mod (I'll probably go with a slightly thicker gauge), silicon eyelids (which I'll have actual pics of soon, still working on the sculpt) and a bit of wool with glue provided for the ears ;)

Have you thought about wire jointing the shoulders to get a more natural arm position?
