Sideshow 1:1 Boba Fett Bust

True, but Boba really is not that hard contrary to popular belief. With a little practice and $20 worth of stuff, some torn sponges and pictures you could learn.

That's taking for granted people want to learn. If you're doing it right, a lot of time would be done on just research to get it to look right. Most people who end up buying it don't have the skills to do it themselves, and those that do have the skills you don't even need to bother tell them they can do better.

This is a piece aimed at collectors who are going to be satisfied with it as is. For the rest of us, we hope to counterfeit the Mona Lisa of props. ;)

True enough. I just can't see a Boba Fan, which they would have to be to purchase a Boba Head at that price, being satisfied with that piece of,......Merchandise.

There's a very old saying.

A fool and his money are easily parted.

Plus you have to consider how these things are marketed, small numbers so with a worldwide target market the run should pretty easily sell out, and to a lot of people this is chump change, these people are in business to make money that's the bottom line, makes no odds to them who the money is coming from.
Add to that BS prestige like limited edition numbers and COA's, it's all BS but people lap it up anyway.
These things will sell regardless of what they are actually like, collectors will lap it up if it's got a brand on it and a nice colourful box and shiney plaque, most of them will never get out of the box.

Sadly true. "limited numbers or editions" always kill me. I really don't care how many there are in the world. I just like what I like.

It's all relative. I would think that everyone who is a stormtrooper fan would know what a stormtrooper is supposed to look like, and yet there are a ton of FX suits out there, which were sold for hundreds of dollars, and they have that big old bobble head noggin.

I'm less of a trooper fan than a Fett fan, and those FX helmets still look awful to me. And yet, the owners of those suits must think they look close enough for them to buy and wear.

The point is that everyone is going to have a different opinion on what is acceptable and what isn't.

As far as someone having to be a big Boba Fett fan to buy it, I don't believe that's necessarily true. Someone could simply be a big Star Wars fan in general, or a Sideshow products fan. Consider the other items they've put out. Salicious Crumb. How many people do you hear talking about how his antics were the high point of ROTJ? Doesn't matter. Cool item and cool concept. Admiral Ackbar. Yeah, there are some people out there with Admiral Ackbar masks, and you'll occassionally see one at a con, but are people really diehard fans of that character? I mean enough to warrant a 1:1 bust? Doesn't matter. Cool concept, cool sculpt. Gammorean Guard. Not even a character with a name. Doesn't matter. AWESOME sculpt, cool concept. Basically, the point is the same people (general Star Wars fans) that bought all the other items are going to buy the Boba Fett, especially considering he's a lot more high profile than all those other characters.

It really doesn't matter what we think; these are going to sell. Even a lot of Boba Fett fans will buy it because it's a limited edition item, with no thought as to how well executed it was done.

HOLY **** that visor pinch is horrible, that must be intentional because no way a sculptor wouldn't notice the original had no pinch, and for that price put a freakin fake visor not gloss paint!

Wow. What an wreck. You don't even have to know anything about Boba Fett to cringe at that. Where is the Altmann's Fett or Rubies when you need them?

This is what happens when people keep giving Sideshow money. Bunch of rubes buying anything...There is no fixing that turd.

I don't know if it's the flash but even the color seems off.

It's funny what scrutinizing eyes we have compared to other forums. This bust is being held in pretty high regard elsewhere. That pinch is so tough to look at man ...

BTW - I don't mind the Probe-droid-like bases. When they are displayed in a group it really isn't much of a distraction.

Sideshow is all about quantity. The more they make, the more they... well, make. Their attention to detail leaves a lot to be desired and it makes me glad we have companies like eFx, who - while they take a long time to release their products - make top grade stuff.

I must say the Sideshow Premium Format figures are decent, some are excellent which unfortunately are not SW figures, their PF Speeder Bike with Scout is awesome, it does need a better paintjob but overall it's really nice and impressive, I must say their quality control on that piece was bad, I had to return 2 before getting a good one.

Really? Mine was perfect! Absolutely love this piece!

I do think they have been slipping more post this piece for PFs. They really need to start producing more of the core most wanted characters. I can't believe they are putting out the EPII clonetrooper before the classic Stormtrooper! There are SO many great OT characters they could be focusing on right now and here we get Aurra Sing and EU Cyborg Darth Maul? Come on!

Just saw this in person at SDCC, and man... as a pretty big Fett fan, you can't be much more disappointed than that. I am almost willing to forgive MR for the pinch in their helmet because they were losing the Star Wars license and blah blah blah... and while their pinch was painfully noticeable and a detractor from their helmet... this... man... I just don't even know what to say about this. It is almost charicaturish... except this isn't an identifiable feature so it just comes off as lame and no effort at all.

What I don't understand is that Sideshow puts out some absolutely stunning pieces. Some truly have to be seen to be believed... so for them to put this out is almost insulting.
