Re: Show your Dr. Who props!

Any info on how these were made? I was part of the thread looking into re-creating these but no-one quite pegged how to print the white on the blue.
I think it really depends on the printer you have access to. My friend had a printer that you could format the page size and paper type or just select envelope and the program would give you a template for the envelope. It may have been a special program but I think it can be done with pages (apple version of microsoft word)

Re: Show your Dr. Who props!

WoW !! You guys have lots of great stuff :) I've only just started building my prop collection. I don't want to buy anything, I want to build it all myself from scratch, so I suppose It's gonna take a while before I have acquired a collection of any note.
So far; 2nd Docs Etheric Wave Detector, 3rds Demat Circuit, 8ths Sonic, 10ths Adipose Detector, and partially built DNA scanner. I'm also working on the power of 3 cubes and the 6ths sonic lance.

The only option I can see is getting a stamp that has repositionable letters for the address, a couple of circle stamps, stamps for the numbers, and use white ink to manually stamp all that stuff on a blue envelope.

Oblivion, I'm really impressed with you work. All your props have turned out brilliantly. I applaud your effect to make all of your own props as well. I'm starting to get more handy with upgrades and enhancements but I haven't attempted a completely from scratch item yet. I'm painted a recorder and am in the middle of a Silver Nemesis watch, but even then I had a base to start with. Fantastic work, well done!

That's such a nice thing to take the time to say, thank you. Truth be told I don't find prop making easy, largely due to the fact that I truly am the messiest worker on the planet. Everything gets in such a state. If you could have seen the mess of the room I was working in at 11pm last night trying to get the cubes finished your jaw would have dropped, even the dog had resin in his fur !! Still the end results always seem to come out ok, even if it does take days to clean up afterwards :) On to the next project I suppose .................

Re: Show your Dr. Who props!

Ha! That poor dog. I don't expect the mess ever goes away when prop making, it might get more controlled, but never gone ;) And yeah, your work is impressive, no two ways about it. Loving the Zygon detector. I really need to get myself more motivated to try scratch made props.

I've taken a short break from the Zygon Detector. I worked so hard on getting what I've done so far as accurate as possible that I'm a bit burnt out with working on it. It looks cool so far but there is SO much detail in it (especially the back) that a short break before going back and finishing it off will be the right thing to do ;)

Re: Show your Dr. Who props!

Yeah sometimes you need to walk away for a bit rather than press on without your best efforts in place. Wise call.

Show my Dr. Who props? OK, here they are:

Did you like them? :lol This is one of my storage units. Unfortunately a lot of the smaller stuff is in bags and boxes, so you can't see what else there is.
