Guess I'll bump the thread by sharing my Khan costume that I made for my Superhero+Sci-Fi birthday party this past weekend. Took about 4 days, not counting the weeks of leisurely popping into fabric stores to see if they had any appropriate fabric I put my breakdown of materials and what I did in a separate thread here.
Thanks guys! Great tunic you've got there yourself, Kevin. You ever read the production costume notes for WOK? They're fascinating - I caught some over at Memory-Alpha (3/5ths down the page in the "Costumes" section).
Great little tidbits, such as that, due to budget, the uniforms ended up that color red because it was one of three colors the jumpsuits material from the first movie could be dyed properly (others were blue-grey and gold), and that they only had one needle for all the vertical quilting for the turtlenecks, as the trapunto machines were rare and it was the only one they could find on the west coast!
wow, you guys all look fantastic, but I have to admit that Kevins Mirror Universe and TWOK revamp are two of my favorite uniforms on the entire board! Well Done SSgt!
Mostly what we have here is a (non-canon) officer's alternate duty uniform vest. (We saw Kirk, Saavik and Scotty wear such vests, so this might not be too bad of an extrapolation...)
Together with the (not yet 100% done) engineering outfit-
I think the neck part is still a bit oversize.
(I don't know, if she goes in there, she's liable to flood the whole compartment...)
First up is my "Where No Man Has Gone Before" tunic:
I haven't seen too many of these made (in fact James Cawley's is the only one I know of), so I figured it would be something you don't see every day.
Next up is something I picked up at a convention last weekend... for $45 bucks!
Of all the different Trek costumes I own, I never really had a decent TOS Command tunic until now. This was a steal considering it was custom made for the guy selling it. I still have to get it tailored a wee bit so it fits me better.
Oh and Felgacarb isn't the only one around here willing to ham it up...
