Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

I'm in for a couple of them if you do a run.

Anyone have a chance to rework that patch yet?

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

I haven't had a chance to work on it. (Plus, I've been dragging my feet, because dr_slurpee said he was going to work on it, and I usually like what he comes up with better then my own work. :lol)

When ever there done, I'm down for at least one, if not more. (depends on how much cash I have at that time. ;) )

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

Done. Mechamaniac where do you want me to send the vector file?

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

WOW nice!

when can we get a accurate patch of that made?

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

Anyone ever look at the patch that Wash had on his jumpsuit? It looks strangely like the Joint Mission patch worn by the crew of the Leonov in 2010.

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

I sent the artwork to Mechamaniac, I imagine he's waiting to hear from the embroiderer.

That's a whole 'nother thread, but one that I would definitely be interested in if it existed. :)

I know the LYNDONO patch was based on an old Soviet cosmonaut patch, one of the others was based on that Joint Mission patch, and the hexagonal one was based on this: http://spaceworld.safeshopper.com/176/3135.htm?880

Of course, they were all slightly altered. Browncoat Patches used to sell LYNDONO patches, and I've got one lying around just asking to be put onto a flightsuit. :love I just wish the others had been produced as well!

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

any word from the embroider?

also, the patch on the propstore.com pic looks to me to be printed, not embroidered. any chance of a screen printed run, and/or releasing the artwork for digital printing? heck, i'd even pay a few bucks to get a pdf emailed to me ;)

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

The one from propstore is definitely a printed one. Screen printed is unlikely, I imagine it was printed out on printable fabric or some sort of iron-on onto fabric and then the border embroidered. I could re-work my art toward that purpose if anyone has a way to make them that way.

i was thinking about just printing them on iron on paper, transferring it to fabric, then running the edges through a sewing machine on zig-zag. not real high tech, but highly likely that's what they did anyway :)

of course, i'd still want a bunch of the nice embroidered ones. like i said in the ssdesigner troublemaker t thread, i like to have functional stuff that will hold up to regular wear, and movie accurate stuff for costumes that made in the same crappy way as the originals!

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

Sorry for the delay guys, I have the file from Dr Slurpee but unfortunately, the embroiderer I planned to use around here has CRAP hours and they're always closed by the time I get off work.

I'm going to call them tomorrow and see if I can submit the file by email. I'll let you all know as soon as I hear from them.

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

OK, after MUCH ado and putting off on my part...I got the first proof from the prospective printer...

It looks good to me, but I'm not the best when it comes to colors etc and I wanted to open this up to a general consensus.

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

I was just wondering what happened to this thread. :) I'm no good with colors, and things like that either, but it looks really good to me. The goldish color on the bird part my does look a little muted to me, but like I said I'm no good at that sort of thing, and it could just be my eye's or my monitor. Anyway's, I would be happy to have one (or two. ;) )of those, in my collection. :)
