My quest to recreate all four screen used props is moving along.......
The Bo Staff has a few photo references and not much information. It isn't used much in the film either. I settled on 60 inches by estimating the actors height with some stills from "Secret of the Ooze."
Here are the reference photos I could find.
My biggest concern is these 2 photos are quite different. One has 9 over wraps and the other has 5. I could not figure out by watching the movie so I settled on 7 and eyeballed the length of the wrap in scale to the total length of the staff.
Basic one inch dowel stained as close as I could get. Minwax "Hickory" Oil based Stain seems to be the best color match for the weapons so far.
After everything was layed out and measured I started to wrap with custom stained leather lacing. I used brass pins and super glue.
After some weathering and some more color matching this is the finished product. Another one down. On to the chucks next!
