Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

I sent an e-mail to the guy that sells the serenity patch sets , to see if he might have a set, or two, left over, but he never resounded. :(

Jason

If you're talking about Bruce Eaton at www.browncoatpatches.com, he does not have any more of the Jayne sets. He did have some of the small hexagonal patches as of a few days ago, but none of his blue security patches. That's a real shame, because he's the only one I've found who had the correct wording ("Security" rather than "Tri-Planet") on the blue patch. He said the Tri-Planet patch was the image that the studio released to patch producers before the movie was released. They changed the patch for the movie, and as far as he knows, he's the only one who made the correction. Unfortunately, due to the Fox/Universal crackdown on fan produced merchandise, he says he's not going to be doing any more Serenity patches.

I wonder, did he say whether or not he's still selling the ones still in stock? It would suck if he had to just ditch 'em and cut his losses...

He said he's "phasing out" the Serenity stuff. He is selling off what he has in stock, but doesn't anticipate having any more available. I ordered some of his remaining patches from his site a just few days ago and received them very promptly.

That SUCKS. I so sick of studios letting us get away with playing with their intellectual property, then cracking down when they sell the rites to some over priced manufacture like MR, Palisades, etc. :( I mean, I know what we do isn't exactly "legal", but to turn a blind eye in the first place, then crack down when it starts getting good, just sucks. :(

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

Thanks, but they already posted that info. In fact, I went looking that day, and ended up winning 36" of the ribben, for less then $12. shipped. :) (I would be happy to share, once I get my jayne medal done.)

awww, too bad i missed it. would have saved me hours of looking at random ribbons til i found a match :)

I don't think its a regular fatigue shirt, in the third picture you can see the zipper.

I can't find that style of Corporal epaulet. I've found some US ones, but they're white one black, not gold on black. Plus, on the US epaulets the corporal logo doesn't go all the way to the edge.

Where can I find the correct style.

I found a few. See my post in the Junkyard if interested.

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

Ok, well I was an IDOT and hesitated to buy the "sergeant first class" patch from the site Entropy posted, because I was hoping to get the set as a whole. So, this month when I decided to go a head and get it from that site, they were all gone. :( I went on a three day search for another site that might have them. Well, their called something different on ever site. Some say they're from Nom, others say WW II. Some say they're Ranger patches. Anyway's, I flintily found a set of 2, of them, today on ebay, for $12.99 shipped. :)

I was able to order the hexagonal patch from Mr. Eaton. (witch I also did today.)

So, I now have everything but the shirt, and the security patch. I have had no luck at all finding the security patch though. I keep seeing tons of those stupid "Tri planet" patches, but no-one seems to have the correct one.

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

Here's something I wondered about for the security patch...

You'll note that the screen-used one doesn't look embroidered (neither does the triangular one). Would it be possible to do an inkjet iron-on of the patch on some heavy material and add the black piping (or whatever it's called) around the outside edge somehow?

OO! I didn't even notice that, you are so right, they don't look embroidered at all. :) They could be made at home. :)

I mean, sure, embroidered would be very nice for an "idealized" version, but if I can get accurate for cheaper, I'm soooo there. :)

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

What about the T-shirt that goes under the resame shirt? I've seen pics of peole waring them, but I can't seem to find them.

They were fan-made by fidocat, AKA Lilac Trading Post. He stopped when the C&Ds started, and I believe someone recently bought the last one he had in stock. :unsure

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

OK, like many who snoozed when Browncoatpatches was doing his run of Jayne resume patch sets, I have all of the patches except the Alliance Security patch on the left shoulder.

Noone seems to be making this, but...."patchesnpins" on Ebay has one that is very similar...

The colors and the center logo are the same, what needs to change is the text in the blue area.

If anyone wants to take a crack at recreating this in photoshop, I will take the ball and see about getting some patches made. I just have no artistic skillz or I would do it myself.

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

I have one of the correct patches.

If no one beats me to it, I'll post a pic tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

Cool thanks!

Now the question is, will a patch maker be able to work from that, or will we still have to re-create it in PhotoShop?

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

It really should be re-created in illustrator or something vector based. I think most embroiderers require vector files, or at the very least it helps them.

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

Any takers on redrawing this?

Also, can someone who has the patch provide the dimensions?

Thanks!

Re: Serenity, Jayne's patchs, medals, and pins.

If I get some time in the next few days I could draw it up in vector...in exchange for a patch whenever someone makes them. ;)
