Serenity- Jayne's Arsenal - MP5SD5, MP5k & Colt 1911

So I finally got around to converting my MP5SD5 AEG into Jayne's rifle from Serenity. I've had this thing hanging from my wall for nearly a year now, and thought it was about time for an overhaul :)

I built the magazine around the existing one (a standard curved MP5 mag), and consequently it's not at quite the right angle, but I thought it was worth the small sacrifice in accuracy for the functionality.

The flashlight is a modified Vortex, mounted on a slightly cut-down MP5 claw mount.

The additional greeblies on the barrel are made from various sizes of steel tube bolted on. The silencer is modified with a plastic plumbing ring and the front section of another flashlight.

I constructed a three-point sling from the handy guide at Arine's airsoft, for around $10.

While I was waiting on various bits and pieces to arrive I thought I'd have a go at the MP5k. I ended up using a $20 airsoft, which seemed to be the only one I could find with the correct 'D' shapes. I modified the grip to add the 'curves' using sculpy, and replaced the barrels with metal ones. The mag is a real MP5 straight, cut down.

Finally, I decided to do another Colt 1911 based on the pic shown on the recent Propstore piece. I picked up a nice airsoft with the correct trigger, hammer and rear fin from Redwolf in Hong Kong.

The Mp5k & Colt don't fire, btw :)

They all look great. I especially like what you did with the MP5K, I really liked that gun. I had thought about tackling that one, but I've already got enough barely-started projects.

The biggest pain with the MP5k is that I could not track down the flashlight they used in the movie, despite getting very sore eyes trying. If anyone knows what it is, I'd love to know.

Yeah, well try posting something from Harry Potter ;)

The guns look great -- I really like the Colt.

Welcome to the RPF. Please check your ego at the door :lol

Great conversions :thumbsup I especially like the 1911. I may have to take a crack at that once my work bench things out a little.

Damn, I have to pay closer attention to Jayne's arsenal.

I'm still figuring out how to get ahold of Mal's pistol...money-wise, of course.

They look sharp, though.

Nice work.

Great conversions. I can tell that a lot of work went into chopping up the airsofts, and adding on the modifications. Excellent scratch work.

How do you plan to display them?

Dunno yet. I have a spare room that I've been meaning to convert for the last year, there just always seems to be a more important 'last piece' to do :)

Like Sidewinder, I don't particularly dig the Serenity weapons (LeMatt all the way.) but I think you did a great job recreating them.

Apart from the LeMatt, Jayne favours the high-tech stuff on the show, too. Assuming they finally fenced The Lassier, I imagine Jayne would have gone out for the best stuff he could get with the money. I believe Vera was meant to be in the movie, but was no longer available (or that the prop-master didn't want her, depending on who you believe)

Besides that, I already own replicas of all the best sidearms from the show besides vera. I do have a nice little item from the original show moulds (not Mal's) on the way though...

I'm not really interested in non-canon items or paper props from Movies, I like to have a go at major items that are not being reproduced by anyone else. Strangeley this seems to create a singular lack of interest, something I'll admit I find confusing and frustrating on the RPF.
